    Default The 6 month reveue

Well its been 6 months since I deposited my $100 into pokerstars. Its been really fun since then.

I started off playing the $1.10 sng's, probably 100 before I decided to try out the $3 turbos. At the time I was all about 'the expereince'. I doubled my money in about a month and a half just grinding those. During that time however I felt that I became a much better player.

After that phase I moved up to the $5 Sngs, at the time I thought the 5 dollars was quite a bit since i only had aroud 220ish. I fooled around there, trying out the 18's and the 27's, after having a terrible time with the 45's.

Basically 3,4 months or so passed since I had began and i only had like $250. I was glad I still had my money but I felt it was time for me to really step it up. I think it was around that time when I found FTR. I read alot and tried to make comments on hands. I really didn't think that i was learning all that much, but I noticed I was winning more and more.

few weeks later I'm down to 200 after reaching an all time high of $450. I lost over 100 in a day and it was killing me. I felt like shit and I was really doubting my game, thought I mightve just been getting lucky un until that point.

A few days later the break came. It was around 11 at night, on a monday or sometihng and I wasn't sleepy. $5 turbo tourney, about 1500 people entered. I ended up winning it in a 3 way chop that gave me $1400. I didn't beleive it. Before that (about 10, 15 mtt's) I had never placed better than a few spots ITM. I think i got 90th once. Point is i had just won this huge tourney and It was just unreal. I mean $1400 american on a $5 investment? I was just bored.

After that I cashed out $1200 (I wanted things) and I had around 500 ish, sold 150 to friends. So that left me with around 350. I played $10 sng's (1 table) and got up to about $550, after which ive now moved up to the $22 Sit n gos. Now ive got around $650 and its been on the up n up.

Its funny cuz Ill now lose 100 and i wont lose a second of sleep.

Anyways just felt like writing that. Maybe inspire some of those people who are stuggling right now and are doubting themselves.

    EDIT: WOO 100 POSTS!

Nice post Jishu, I remember reading your post on your MTT win, congratulations!

I've actually been wondering whether I should step up myself. I started with a $20 loan from a friend which I ground up to $100 at the $0.01/$0.02 NL microstakes tables. Once I hit $100 I moved to the $5.50 normals SNGs and ground that up to $330 then moved to the $11 normals. I then discovered the $6.50 turbos, ran hot and in combination with some b0nuses I hit $800 bankroll and started playing the $16 turbos, got slapped in the face back to $700 then moved back down to the $6.50s.

That was 300-350 tourneys ago. Since then my BR has gone up and down but mostly just stuck around the $650-750 mark. It is very frustrating because the $6.50 and $11 players are just so bad that I should be able to crush those games but I seem to run into variance (suckouts, shortstack pushes that run into monster hands, etc.) that means my BR doesn't go up. I do feel I'm good enough to do OK at the $16s/$22s but am worried about moving up because I don't want to go busto (say if my current bad run continues).

Given I can replace my BR pretty easily I wonder whether I should just move up and see how I fare. It is a matter of pride for me however that I've never needed to deposit any more money (apart from to take advantage of the odd reload b0nus).

    Thoughts?

    Thanks for the grats

And theres a suprising amount of bad players on the $22 sit n go's (on stars too), the swings can be a bit mean but if you stick to your guns and your willing to lose more than you probably ever have before then go for it. Plus, you only live once.
