Screwing around at 50NL, taking some donks to value town?
I panicked and withdrew my bankroll a couple of weeks ago in the poker ban craze, except for $200 that I left on Bodog. While I'm waiting for my money to get back online, I've been screwing around at 25NL and 50NL on Bodog. My focus has been trying to get better at making thin value bets in spots where nits would take the more cautious route, and here are three hands where I had to decide how big of a pot I wanted to play with a decent to good one-pair hand. I might be a little out of practice at poker so I thought I'd check up on how I did.
Bodog doesn't give you hand histories, so I'll just do my best from memory. All of my opponents in these hands were particularly bad, even for Bodog 50NL.
Hand 1: Guy with $30 open-limps from early position, I raise to $2 with KQ, and everyone folds except the limper. Flop is QJ7 rainbow, he checks I bet $3 and he min-raises to $6. I call, and I call his $3 turn bet when the turn is a 6. The river is another 6 and he bets $3 more. Value-shove?
Hand 2: At a 7-handed table, EVERYONE limps and I make it $5 from the big blind. Two guys call, a guy with $100 on the button who barely covers me, and a guy with $50 from the small blind. The flop is Axx rainbow, and the small blind check-calls $12 into a $16 pot, then open-pushes the turn.
Hand 3: Two people limp, I make it $3 on the button with TT and get called by both blinds and both limpers. The flop is 552 with two spades, and one of the limpers check-calls $10. He started the hand with $60 and I cover him. Turn is an offsuit 8 and he calls $20. The river was some other random low card that I don't remember and he checks again. All you can eat?
