Villain fires weak second-barrels a lot. Aren't I farther ahead to just let him fire?

if he has AT, you are 2.5:1 to win

if he can expect at least one person to call with a low/mid pair, then his bet prices himself in to hit his hand.

the flop raise is more to protect your hand than anything, and it also might make UTG fold something that beats you like A9 or TT
