AQo hand
Hi, I played this pokerstars 50NL hand last night but dont have the HH on me as Im at work atm. I've just sat down for an orbit and still have almost the full $30 I bought in with. Villian has played 4 of the last 10 hands (won 3 pots), calling two raises but only raising once himself. He's show down one hand - KJs in late position after calling PFR, flop and turn 1/2pot bets, scooping pot against AK unimproved. He's also been betting into what seems to be orphan flops when no one has shown strength.
Pokerstars 25c/50c NL
Villian is UTG has $27
Hero has $30
Pre-flop: (5 players) HERO is SB with Ac Qs
Villian calls $0.5c, 1 fold, HERO raises to $2.5, 3 folds, button calls $2.5, Villian calls $2
Flop: 2h Kh Qc ($8, 3 players)
Villian bets $3, HERO raises to $9, Button folds, Villian calls $6, Hero pukes.
Turn: 2s ($26, 2 players)
Villian checks HERO checks
River: 9d
Villian bets $5, HERO calls $5.
Results:
Final pot: $36
OK, what do you put villian on, given his LAGgy history (albeit only 10 hands)? Flush and straight draws are there, but he could have a weak King and making a feeler bet. Do you like my flop raise given his potential range? Should I have raised more? Given his flop call, do you like my turn check, or do you go with your read (villian is drawing) and push? (villian has $16 left and pot is $26). Does a weak king call this given the strength I will have projected (He'll surely put me on AK)?
Should I have flatcalled the flop and re-evaluate on the turn? I felt middle pair is too good to lay down here, but at the time I felt a call with too weak and he'd fire another bet on the turn, so I raised but then didn't know what to do with the information once the turn was a very handy 2s. I dont want to play for stacks as my read is not certain (which my flop raise has done).
These marginal hands have nailed me in the past, either because I play them too passively and get outdrawn, or I overplay them and get nailed by a bigger pair or two pair. Is there an argument to simply fold the flop and wait for a better spot?
Thanks in advance everyone - your advice is greatly appreciated.
