One of the most ridiculous poker stories you will ever hear!
This happened to me today in Turningstone, and truly, you will not believe it. Here's what happened.
I'm absolutely destroying the 1/2 tables after having a horrid -2 buy in day on friday night (i mean wtf!). I'm at one of these odd tables where most people at my table are really nitty. But it is a weird type of nitty, one where they just fold if they dont hit anything on the flop and donk bet everytime they do. of course, they are all playing 70/0.
Anyways i have Q8s in MP and raise it up 4x the BB (experimenting with raising a smaller amount at these tables (preflop u need to raise like 7-10X the BB for it to play like a normal table)) I get 2 callers OOP and one on the BU who has been donk lagg and pretty much stabs at a lot of low flops.
flop comes 973 one heart, i have the Q8 is of hearts. Me and OOP guys both check, lagg donk obvious not planning on betting, reaches for his chips when he sees us check and bets out almost pot. I call intending to float most overs/play off his ridiculous amount of physical tells. turn is 5 of hearts, giving me a straight draw, an over, and a flush draw. I think about donk betting but decide i'd like to see what he does. He thinks for a bit and bets out 40. He stares me down (which ive realized means hes bluffing). I reraise to 120, which is almost the rest of what he has, he thinks for a bit and reluctantly calls (with 21 behind!!! lol obv draw).
The river comes an A and I check (shoulda just put the rest in hoping he missed a draw or something) and he puts the rest in. I am beating some draws so i pretty much have to call with like 15 to 1.
Here's the ridiculous part.
As soon as I call he goes "you got me" and mucks his cards without showing or knowing what i had. I go "okay" ecstatic that he must have had a missed draw. The rest of the table asks the dealer to see my cards, and I flip over my Q8.
Then the guy looks stunned, he looks at the dealer and says i had that beat. So I go, uhhhh it doesn't matter dude you already mucked your cards. The dealer, being knowledgeable and not a dumbass gets really mad at the guy and explains that im a correct, and that he should've shown, and rakes the pot over to me (opp had K high WTF! I read good but play bad).
So then the guy wigs out, he throws his hat on the ground and just leaves in frustration. I go tell Max and he can't believe it.
This is probably the awesomest poker moment of my career, a story i am going to tell for the rest of my life!
