I was lessoning to other types of music it kind of goes like this "f*ck the river, f*ck the river, you're lucky, you're a lucky bitch, f*ck the f*cing river, f*ck the river"

it needs a little work, but it's stylish...

Whenever I host, I always throw on some smooth jazz. Dave Brubeck, John Coltrane... it provides a great, classy atmosphere.

My friends, on the other hand, like to play stuff like ELO and Pink Floyd. I don't have a problem with them (or their music), but I don't think it's particularly good for poker.

Nice. I just recently saw Disasterpieces for the 1st time. What a sick show. I knew I should have gone to Ozzfest this past June. I've also downloaded a couple video performances from the London Astoria show. Maybe i'll catch them the next go through.

I caught the copy cat show at the NEC was a great night I managed to get to the front railings after jumping the barrier once the lights went down (Had a last minute sitting ticket, downside was I couldn't go for a piss for the rest of the show).

One of the best nights out i've had though and I got the job I had an interview for the next day.

I usually either play my jukebox on launch.com, or a saved Media playlist of Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles...

If I get deep within a tourney, I put the Rocky Soundtrack (1 - 5) on repeat.
  14. #14
My tastes vary drastically... In heavy rotation at the moment are:

Guns and Roses: use Your Illusion 1.
    The Game - The Documentary
jay Z - The Black Album
    Erykah Badu - Baduizm
    Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
Kid Rock - Devil Without a Cause
    and Velvet Revolver.

I surf the $25 NL games on PP to pick off the fish and/or the maniacs. Make about $25 - $50 per night. When I play multi's, it's sometimes the Friday Night, or 200K, or Quarter... sometimes just a $10 buy in. And I like the steps too. Never play limit.

Sorry, but don't understand crypt-keeping.. you mean lurking? I'm a newbie at these forums. I've been playing the game for awhile, just never chatted about it!

These threads that you bumped are old. Old and crusy. And they smell funny. Crypt-keeping is reanimating a dead thread. Just wondering if you were Dman's alter-ego out to maintain 0 content posts and just bring back old threads. :P

Ohhh.. gotcha. Well, I was reading up on all the threads just to see if anything interesting on there, and didn't see a new one on music, so I figured I'd attempt to revive. Won't try to do it again.

    Default lol..

This is the best song I can listen to while playin..

    Put Your Money

    [dice rolling]
    [DMX] Grrrrrrrr..
    [Chorus 2X: Ludacris] + (DMX)
Bet a hundred (bet a hundred) bet a thousand (BET A STACK)
Bet a million (put yo' money where yo' mouth is)
Bet a hundred (bet a hundred) bet a thousand (BET A STACK)
Bet a million (put yo' money where yo' mouth is)

    [Ludacris]
Let it rush through your veins, cause I'ma be the one
to step up and put a hundred thousand dollars on the game
Got a pocket full of change and they C-note stacks
    Bustin dominoes, spades, cee-lo, craps
We shootin pool at the Luda-plex; I slap a hundred on the table
just to see if any fools wanna do it next
...Or double it back, I'll double the stacks
Throw a dub, a big face or double the stack (boy)
..Throw in the towel cause I'm makin 'em sweat
Or put your house on the line and I can cover the bet
So hurry up and come get some, if you want some
You know the phrase - scared money don't make none!

    [Chorus]

    [Ludacris]
Throw some money on the books, cause I know how to call 'em
Somebody tell my fam I got a gamblin problem
I don't know when to STOP, maybe when somebody's
drug away by the COPS, or when I'm blowin steam
Countin green in the DROP, because whether legal or illegal
all my people bring the strength to the block
Yessir, I thought you knew it, we loco
We'll bet on anything, just to see if anybody's gon' do it
It's people livin they LIFE comin up off change
And hustlers payin they bills comin up off games
Whether it's Madden or it's Live, tell 'em pick up the sticks
    They call me Mr. Put-Down-Two-And-Pick-Up-Six
Then walk away with a clean slate; catch me out in A.C.
Callin yo' bluff with Puff eatin cheesecake
So all my ramblers, runners and money scramblers
Put your drinks up to all compulsive gamblers

    [Chorus]

    [Ludacris]
I'm up in Vegas with a stack of black chips
Breakin the whole casino and doin backflips, man
Cameras eyein us, sidebetters tryin us
The more chips we stack, the more drinks they buyin us
Tryin to get me off my grind, but it won't work
Cause I can drink a fifth of gin and it don't hurt
I'm still breakin 'em, and dice still shakin 'em
I'll step in any place, just ask X what I say to 'em

    [Chorus - 2X]
  24. #24
i listen to all kinds of things when i play online, but i find the most effective to be movie soundtracks. john williams in particular, indiana jones, star wars, and my fav for the long tourney, last of the mohicans. call me crazy, but it helps me keep my confidence up.

at the home game, we usually listen to the 70's rock station on the satellite tv or the radio.

I listen to mostly '80's rock (because I'm an old fart), you know, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison, Kiss, Cinderrela, Motley Crue, etc. And then the occasional Jimmy Buffet does some good as well.

I have to have rap from 1990-95 to play poker - you know the bone thugs, dre, eazy-e, cube, diddy, 2pac,...also gotta have my latin hip hop like mr sancho, lil rop. Most importantly them thuggish ruggish bone thugs from cleveland though. I love em. All this new rap sucks ass - I am sick of the radio playing the same 10 songs over and over, and I am sick of jarule trying to sound gangster. I used to like ludacris but after hearing him 34 times an hour I cant stand it any more.

The Strokes have a good sound. They know it, too. EVERY ONE of their songs sounds exactly the same.

I ran into the same things when I bought The Music's album.

Anyone heard that Oasis is coming out with a new album? It's bound to be pretty good.
I don't know what they have to say

    Blasphemy!

Using some choice words, I strongly disagree with you.

Listen to Someday or The End has no End then listen to Reptilia or The Way it is. You tell me the difference. Besides they are coming out witha 3rd cd pretty soon, and are promoting a new sound for it. I dont know a date but they have been recording a while and are probobly releasing in the next half year.

I'd probably just take Definitely Maybe.

What an immense album that is.

Hmmm I've got both of these albums but I haven't tried playing poker to them yet. Not sure Maynard (Mr. PC) would approve but I'll give it a shot.

if you like oasis then theres a good bet you like the strokes

    ever heard them?
The Strokes have a good sound. They know it, too. EVERY ONE of their songs sounds exactly the same.

I ran into the same things when I bought The Music's album.

Anyone heard that Oasis is coming out with a new album? It's bound to be pretty good.
'Don't Believe The Truth' <-- new album coming out soon.

You can get one of the new songs on Limewire, and they have started showing it on MTV.

The new bright eyes album (i'm wide awake it's morning) is great, very cheery, possibly good poker music, haven't tried it yet.

I'm a country music guy, so I listen to that.

Although, right after I take a bad beat, I usually put on a song entitled "Don't worry 'bout a thing" to try to avoid tilt.

I'm also partial to a song entitled "Nothing to Lose", which may or may not be good to be listening to while playing poker.

I usually have the tv on in the background so it is typically more conversation than music.

To me it's not so much a question of what music it is, but what kind of music it is and how it affects my concentration and/or emotions.

I think it needs to be something that can be running in the background without drawing attention to itself too much. Most of the time this comes from familiarity. I have some albums I've heard on repeat for 10+ hours and when I put them on my state of mind takes a cue from my concentration music and I focus even more than normally.

Radio works as well for me, oddly enough, but listening to really good music that I would otherwise get enthusiastic about becomes distracting.

If your body is subconsciously rocking along with the music or background noise of choice that's good - I think it helps stablize you. But if you start concentrating on listening to lyrics or feel the music taking you emotionally to another place that can affect your concentration.

I'd probably try to use the same music for studying poker and doing hand history analysis as I use for actually playing. Given enough time patterns of thought can become associated with specific music and you can help trigger your A-game simply by putting on the right record.

Don't bump 3 year old music threads when there are plenty of more recent music threads.
