    Default OT: Redgrape.. (IowaSkinsFan)

First, sorry for the off-topic post. I will try to incorporate a little strategy so this thread isn't a COMPLETE failure

    On to business...

    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...i-am-51850.htm

You're the best regular at this level... besides me

In all seriousness, I think it's dumb for people to give you crap for only playing $100NL. There are a lot of solid reasons for someone to play that "low", and surprisingly, the $100 NL (6) tables at PokerStars are generally decent and nitty. There are obviously some retard fish, but unless you table select, the tables aren't completely crushable.

    Bankroll Strategy
A lot of people are insistent on always moving up and playing games that "fit" your bankroll. I think that most of the views are pretty dumb and that bankroll should only be a small factor in determining what limits you play. Experience, comfort, and skill-level should also play into determining what stakes you play.

    For Me...
I turned 18 in April of 06. I played tournaments. I was strictly a tournament player. I built my bankroll up to around $5000 in 06 and headed into 07 still a tournament player. Come January 07, I had back-to-back scores of $4700 and $6100 and some other decent scores. Entering February, my bankroll was about $16000 and I wanted to learn cash games and hopefully convert.

Most people would suggest 2/4 or probably 3/6 with a $16000 bankroll. However, I thought it was best to learn NL Cash by playing $100 NL. I had 0 experience, was not at all comfortable playing cash, and didn't know if I would be a winning player just jumping straight to $600 NL. So until I hit ~75K hands at 5ptBB/100 or higher at $100 NL, that is where I will play (and learn).

Anyways this turned into sort of a ramble, but whatever

the reasons he was getting ripped on wasn't because of the stakes he plays.

Lol the reason I was getting ripped is people don't like arrogance.

AND BTW if it wasn't for lending a lot of money to my friends and running ridiculously bad (I'm 99% sure this was the case) i would've easily moved up by now, in fact, I had moved up before i lent 500 dollars to 2 of my friends and dumped 600 at TS (ljewallewak).

People would NOT recommend you start at 2/4 or 3/6, they would recommend you start at 100NL and when you're comfortable move up to 200NL, then when you're comfortable move up to 400NL ...

QFT. It would be retarded to start at $100nl. In fact, if you only had a 3kish bankroll i would start at $50nl.
eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

Agreed, all of the smarter cash players I have talked to have suggested this route.

However, my point was more towards general bankroll-stakes conceptions. The majority of people think that it is set in stone that someone with a 16K bankroll should be at 2/4 or 3/6. They fail to view each person as an independant entity and fail to consider other factors which I feel are important and often overlooked in these scenarios.

    "You're playing $100 NL w/ a $16K roll? wtf?
    "Move up, nit"

    etc etc

I hear all the cool kids borrow 500 from ISF and play 200nl, then move up and lend money to ISF and prooooffffiiiiittt.

and no, the 100nl games are not tough to beat, but they are super nitty.
