Default I'm down 13 buyins at 1/2 total...

Venting post. I'm trying to move up from .5/1 to 1/2 and it's not working out very well (ok that's an understatement). I feel like i'm playing well, i analysed all my big hands and they are all good. I do not feel like i am in denial.

I'm just venting. If it wasn't for ISF i'd be freaking out right now.

I know the feeling, both my attempts to move up to 2/4 have gone very badly. Set a stop-loss, move back down, grind it out, get your confidence back and give it another shot.

Odds are one of you is a fish. The question is: which one?

After losing 13-buyins I'd say that it'd be tough for this statement to be true, unless you've played an INSANE amount of hands.

It's only in 3600 hands and but i believe it's true (i'm as sure as i could be). I could even post every one... but i don't see any point.

My first crack at 1/2: Ran/played good for a week then hit a 34 BI downswing(late Jan.) I was rolled for this but then the Neteller thing happened and I had to rebuild almost from scratch at 100.

2nd shot: This was taken one day when I couldn't find any good 100 tables(Feb 15). I lost 8 buyins at 200 then another 10 at 100 that day over 6k+ hands. ALL hands played that day I feel I played well. I didn't win any flips, I was 2-4 outered 8 times for stacks after the flop, flopped under sets/flushes, you name it, it happened.

3rd shot: March 1, played good for 2 weeks, last week was down a little but still my best month so far playing online, a good finish and I will have my 1st 5 figure month and be ready to take a shot at 400.

Moral of the story, if you feel that you are capable of playing well enough to beat 200 then make sure you move down before you drop enough BI's that you have to play 50nl to build back up. Also don't experiment too much with your game while you are trying to move up(ie trying to open up your game), stay at 100 until you are fully comfortable playing looser. Most 100 regs won't pick up on your looser play, but the 200 regs will think that you are a looser player 'cause that is the only stats they have on you. I think this may be putting you in more marginal spots that you are used to and against players who will notice and try to exploit more.

Any way I hope this helps, sorry about all the rambling.

I'm not out completely! I'll be at FTP till the end of the month then I'll be splitting my play again between 200 and 100. Twice this month i've had 8+ buyin days at 100 NL, only to be preceded by -3 plus buyin days at 200 NL. So, I'm very much am in the same boat as Massimo right now.

You guys should just avoid the chance of making serious money completely!

Play lame lowstakes with a million buyins and PROFIT!

    ... a little.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

As soon as some of you guys get off the $100NL tables maybe I can take a run at'em.

My god, how long did I do that for! It got me up to $12k but there's got to be a limit. So today I played my first ever session of 4-tabling $100NL 6max at Crypto. 1.33ptb/100 ftw!

Massimo - or anyone else that has had trouble moving from 100NL to 200NL

I'm just curious what the biggest difference between the two levels is, that causes the most problems? I'm in the process of moving up levels actually, started integrating a few 200NL tables today.

I'm sure I"ll have some rocky roads ahead!

    More aggressive preflop action.

200NL more bluffy and actually fishier, but the regs are actually good.
    Check out the new blog!!!

Yea ISF is right- The regs at 200nl are significantly better than the ones at 100nl where reg=nit usually. They still make a ton of mistakes though.

I wouldn't say the games are fishier, they are just more aggro-fishy which means higher variance. A lot of times you shouldn't fold getting 2 to 1 even if you can only beat a bluff. Inducing bluffs was very, very profitable for me at 1/2.

Less nitty than 100, plus there are actually some good Lags around so it seems fishier/looser. There are more good Tag regs, and the Tag regs are more 20/15+ types instead of 16/13 types.
