AKs postflop 3-bet pot

    Default AKs postflop 3-bet pot

The guy to my left was making a lot of 3-bets to my positional raises. I'm sure he has a wide range - enough so that a 4-bet is reasonable. SB, however, is our standard Tag-Nit. I have a hard time giving him a wider range preflop than TT+/AK. Thoughts?

    Looks good to me.
I would be worried about QQ or JJ (that's what I guess he ended up having) but probably end up shoving anyways.

there's another way to play this?

I guess you could 4bet PF.

Yuck I just realized SB coldcalled the 3bet, shit, has to be JJ/88 but whatevs, you have 11 clean outs in a 3bet pot then, the money is going in.

I definetely don't fold pre, I see a lot of merits in fourbetting, but calling seems fine/better also.

    Flop is standard.

    flop is standard IMO.

Preflop though you gotta shove IMO and why not. i think its too passive to play it like this.

One of my thoughts with the hand was that 4-betting pre could have been better. I'm still not sure though - I can get paid off when I hit here pretty easily (check-raise), and get away much cheaper when I don't. Further, a total nit called the 3-bet from the SB. There's no way he has a weak hand here. I might get folds from some of the hands I'm flipping (and I suppose you could argue that he usually reraises the hands that dominate me), but I think he usually comes along either way.

The other half of the question was if we like the shove figuring that he will almost always have at least KK/AK, and as often as not have a set. We're just under 35% with no real FE if he has a set, and even money if he has KK/AA. We're almost a 70% favorite against another AK. Do we want to get it in when we only have FE against the hand we have solidly beat? I think it's actually pretty close.

i think shoving pre is slightly better given the dynamics you described; flop is hard to screw up with your megadraw.

I think you under-estimating the amount of FE you have over the SB, he more than likely holds JJ+,AK but unlikely holds KK or AA. even if he calls your shove you arent in bad shape.

Paid off when you hit?? Maybe i guess though you have taken the flop vs 2 opp's so id say when you get action on your c/r you are probably going to be behind.
