Default Is online poker coming full circle?

I think that the next line of winning players will again be nits. The evolution of the most common winning players since the beginning of online poker is in constant flux. It started with the nits playing premium hands and taking all the loose passives money. Then came the TAGs. They took all the fishes money before the nits could get to it. Then came the LAGs, who killed both the TAGs and got the fishes money before the TAGs could get it. Then came the TAGs counter to the LAGs, light 3betting. The TAGs forced the LAGs to tighten up by 3betting them. Now everyone is 3betting, and the LAGs are becoming SLAGs. And now the nits are 3betting light and forcing everyone to tighten up. I have seen countless 15/10 light 3bettors in the past few weeks. I seen a lot of these players at 2/4 as well. They are 3betting like crazy and are blowing all the fish out of the pot. You can't 3bet them light 'cause they only open 8-10% UTG and limp their small PPs, then it seems they 3bet their entire UTG opening range and call their small PPs in the other positions. Non of these players are 'big' winners, but they are becoming the most common reg.

I think that even more players will pick up this type of game, and the nits will dominate most tables. Their game is easy to play. I feel that I need positions on these players, but in the past I would have loved to give position to a 15/12 player.

Is this what we have to look forward to in the future? Or are the player types just evolving on their own, with no change in the amount of each type? Will there be a next generation of player? If so what will that player be?

Good players will always beat worse players. Put a good player at a table with a bunch of nits and he will win. I think you're severely underestimating good players and acting like their games are much more static than they are.

No not underestimating. The big winners are still the much looser better players. I am just saying that I think there has been a big increase in the number of nits type regs. The trend seems to be leaning away from TAGs/LAGs and more towards players who are lets say 'immune' to light 3betting. The bad TAGs/LAGs seem to be going away slowly, I think the good ones are moving up. They are being replaced with these nit types.

I think the no-brainer counter to the 3-betting TAggs is to play 40-50bb deep and leave when you hit 80-100bb. Rinse and repeat, it's not like there is a shortage of games to sit in. A lot of those plays depend on fold equity via implied threat and deep stack value from their suited connecters that go to shit without money behind.

Fuck, I really shouldn't have posted that... Merry Fucking Christmas everyone.

Don't beat yourself up over it. You've already posted something to this effect in the recent past.

I've noticed that 3-betting from the blinds had been very proftable for me until recently when the good button or CO stealers just started calling and playing back at me on any non Q+ flop.

I can't decide if I should start cold calling more from the blinds and start c/r or floating OOP, or if I should keep 3-betting but also start c/r or floating OOP.

good short stacking strategy is very hard to exploit. and if you can exploit it, you can't exploit it for very much.

40-60 deep isn't by any means a totally pre-flop driven strategy. You still should have a good couple bets behind on most hands. Taking away a bet will alter the correct strategy enough that it may cause multi-tablers to make mistakes and not recover from early street mistakes with inspired late street play.
