    Default A-6s 200NL Fold to c/r?

I did fold, but that shouldn't make commenting on the situation difficult...

Villain is an unknown. I checked the flop figuring a reasonable calling range for either villain on the flop has my TPWK beat, and i could extract value from a second pair hand if a Q or K hit the turn.

I figure villain's range on the river is probably 9-9/8-8/2-2/missed draw. I just haven't seen anyone use this line with a bricked draw at 200NL. It would be a great idea though, seeing how i have played my hand. Should the fact that a drawing hand that missed is in my range have encouraged me to call? I still think he would only c/c the river with any two pair (maybe not A-9).

    Hero: ($200.75 in chips)
    Villain: ($196 in chips)
    4 other players

    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to Hero: [As 6s]
    Player 1: calls $2
    2 folds
    Hero: raises $6 to $8
    Villain: calls $7
    1 fold
    Player 1: calls $6
    *** FLOP *** [9s 2h Ad]
    Villain: checks
    Player 1: checks
    Hero: checks
    *** TURN *** [9s 2h Ad] [8h]
    Villain: bets $16
    1 fold
    Hero: calls $16
    *** RIVER *** [9s 2h Ad 8h] [6d]
    Villain: checks
    Hero: bets $52
Villain: raises $120 to $172 and is all-in
    Hero: folds

I agree with pretty much all you said. So, good fold I think.

what hand do you put him on at the river? 222/888/999/a9?

The only reason I would call here is because you are highly under-represented. Your line looks a lot like a bluff.

ya, it looks like you're either bluffing or making a thin value bet.

i guess i'd still fold cuz of no reads, but it does seem like a good spot for villain to c/r bluff.

This is the best play i have seen by anyone i have played against at 200NL. The only probable hand in my range that can call his c/r is 10-7, but it makes up only a small portion of my range on the river.

It has definitely sparked my thinking about spots where i can use this play...

What kind of monster hand counts on a check raise on the river when you have just called his turn bet?? There doesn't seem like a great chance you would bet the river... so why the check raise? Would a set/monster hand seriously check the river??? I think this is the biggest reason i call here.

I think your hand looks really underreped also, and theres a good amount of money in the pot against an unknown. I wouldnt give him this much credit. Tough spot, but i call.

c/r'ing a monster makes some sense since hero might be more likely to bet the river with a missed draw.

His range contains a deceptive amount of strong hands, good fold. The only thing you beat is a missed draw.

c'mon, he has some balls to c/r here if he has a monster/ Id pull a move like this but opp would need to be a very good regular at 200nl to be hand reading this well that we'll bet for value on the river.
What you say makes sense, but it just doesnt for this level of player so much...

I insta-thought 75hearts, but its opps preflop play that worries me, he can only really have either a strong ace tp hand OR a set.
OP can you post position of each player?

Villain is SB, and i am on the Button.

I don't have to be value betting for me to bet this river.

no but he needs a strong hand and some good hand reading skills or big balls to make this play.

While i like Iowa's thoughts, in a vacuum i dont think its a clear fold, but if opp is sb he has to have a small pair set here sooooo much.
you think he would 3bet 99?
Otherwise i think its A9 a whole lot... but i do not wanna fold.

Unfortunately, i have no idea if this guy is a regular or even a good player so idk what he is 3betting.

It just seems like since its 200NL, its probably not a bluff. I definitely didn't want to fold either
