Q-Q 400NL 3bet pot

    Default Q-Q 400NL 3bet pot

Villain is a 20/16 8 tabling TAG who plays 200 - 600NL. Plays solid, i haven't seen him show down anything stupid. UTG has been playing solid.

Given the board texture and my preflop cold call, i don't see him bluffing here often. I thought checking the turn was my best option but if i'd be interested to hear why a bet might be better.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    Button ($345.60)
    Hero ($507.90)
    BB ($94.70)
    UTG ($367.85)
    MP ($519.30)
    CO ($258.85)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q, Q.
UTG raises to $12, MP raises to $40, 2 folds, Hero calls $38, 1 fold, UTG folds.

    Flop: ($96) T, J, 9 (2 players)
    Hero checks, MP checks.

    Turn: ($96) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $68, Hero calls $68.

    River: ($232) 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $136, Hero folds?

i folded. i can't eliminate the possibility of a slowplay or a bluff, so with the good pot odds i am getting i should have called.

i think i see why leading the turn would be good, but given how drawy the board is should i consider calling a shove?

-coldcall the 3bet with J-J and A-K preflop? I would think i would consider folding both hands preflop, given the stack sizes and his 3bet being pretty strong.
-if you would coldcall the 3bet preflop , would you play both hands the same way i should play Q-Q (check flop, lead turn)?

    I like value-bluff CRAI

That s the 2nd worst board possible for his AA KK is he has it
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

also I kinda think a check on this flop from AA KK is pretty standard from villain here if he thinks HERO is relatively solid

He s beating 1 hand (the one you have) and suited cards or Str8 draws are few here

So I think we should be bluffing here since it's a tough call for KK-AA
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

i like the crai idea too. it's possible he calls Jx/QT, or folds KK/AA.

max why would hero have suited cards or Qx here?

So what does he do if he bets and we raise and he has AA KK?
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Fold river, this screams of aa or kk playing cautiously on a horrible flop, but thinking by the way you played it that they're ahead, and making a value bet on river.

For all of those who say why would he check aa or kk behind on the flop, this is a horrible board to value bet either of those hands. A good player knows that getting 3 streets of value (i.e. getting all-in) on this board is very rare, and that far more often when they do they'll be way behind. Checking behind with aa or kk on the flop is fairly standard in this spot. When hero checks turn as well, now it looks more safe for villain to value bet, which he does. Same with river.

The other way you could have played the hand sometimes would be to lead flop/shove turn, representing a set, hopefully getting aa or kk to fold (obv. though only make this play if opponent is capable of folding kk or aa sometimes in this spot, otherwise everything we beat folds and everything that beats us calls.

    Looks like AQ to me.

As played I'm seeing a showdown, but then again I showdown a lot.

This looks too much like whiffed AK/AQ.. suspicious.
  17. #17
I think it's AK, small chance of tricky AA, even smaller of KK. AQ should bet this flop and is discounted anyway given our hand.
