Default Very common spot vs. shorty

Villain is just typical 42/0 short stack donkey.

    Poker Room skin
    No Limit Holdem Ring game
    Blinds: $0.50/$1
    5 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: $36.85
    CO: $25.25
    Button: $27.15
    SB: $142.75
    Hero: $101.05

    Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with J A
2 folds, Button calls, SB folds, Hero raises to $5, Button calls.

    Flop: 8 K 8 ($10.5, 2 players)
Hero bets $9, Button raises all-in $21.15, Hero

    Do I cbet this everytime?
Now that I have cbet, I am getting great odds to call, but I seem to lose in these situations 75% of the time.
This is such a common spot on PokerRoom, and it drives me crazy.

I normally avoid cbetting these types without a couple overs.

raise more preflop so a c/b is just a little less than his remaining stack.

    PFR $8-9 FTW

Just shove him in on the flop.

    Plan ahead.

Raise to $7 pre-flop and shove most flops.

    as played insta call

preflop is fine but i prefer CR ai here vs bad shorties
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Awesome...never even thought about doing this.

Sometimes when they are really short (10BB) on the BB and I am SB with a descent hand I just shove preflop.

What if I am SB and shortstack BTN limps, do I still raise big pre-flop even with the BB left to act??

I dont think I try for a c/r. No reason to let him check it through, and no reason to believe he'll make a bet.

So shove. Your shove here (ignoring the larger PFR part) would be 21 into 10... Villain would have to call around 35ish% of the time (and when he calls we ALWAYS lose) for our shove to be neutral EV.

Obviously he doesnt have a king or eight 35% of the time, nor do we always lose when he does. Working out our exact EV on the shove is harder (have to guess how often he calls and with what) but it's clearly a +EV shove.

    I've probably said too much.
