My original thoughts exactly. His hand is so face up, unless he thinks you are bluffy he can't look you up.
On the other hand, your holding is pretty poloarized here: air or monster. You said he thinks you aren't afraid to bluff though, so I think he calls. The board is an obvious spot to bluff for a LAG or bluffy player that can read hands, and he made a diamond draw pay the maximum on the turn setting up an easier river decision, so I call.
I can't fathom why you'd check the flop, but I think you had A5s.
