88 against 4-bet

Results 1 to 15 of 15

    Default 88 against 4-bet

Villain is a 28/25 over 40 hands... I feel like his range is really skewed towards AK.

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (6 handed) Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

With only that information fold. If he was in pos i'd consider it much more. You don't need to stack off with 88 to make threebetting like a monkey profitable.

with only 40 hands on villaiin i think this is a clear fold. If you had seen him 4bet and show down AK a few times before then i think you could justify it but it just doesnt really make sense with no reads.
eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

Reasons for this move = decent pot equity + a tiny bit of fold equity + IMAGE

    amirite?

not saying it's the right play, but does anyone consider a stop n go here? the end result is probably the same, but you increase fold equity i think.

    Just thinking out loud

I've heard that a four bet = aces. True, this is a six-handed game, but you're telling me a four bet = AK? Fold for crissakes.

four bet can deeeeeeeeefinitely = AK or worse sometimes. higher up in stakes.. the more 3-betting.. so the more likely a four-bet is AK.

I think the push/fold really depends on how many times you've 3-bet him so far?

I try to avoid stacking here cause we're at best a flip.. but if you've 3-bet him a lot I'd think about it stronger.

dont 3 bet if u dont know what to do

Thats poor logic. If someone will almost every time but will occasionally make a stand with 2 cards (but not often enough) and will also sometimes turn up with aces then 3 betting is still +++++EV and we dont know what to do if he 4 bets.

players are much more inclined to 4bet AK than aces and it's easier to be dealt AK yo

pretty garbage 3bet. What are you trying to accomplish by 3betting a hand that plays so perfectly vs a player of this type in a coldcall scenario?
