Here's a hand that came up tonight. I want to hear your feed back on the way you would play this hand on the turn.

Table Read: The table is loose passive. Most bettors have the hand they are betting. No one is getting out of line. Most players fold on the flop without a hand or a strong draw, thus making most post are extremely small.) I haven't been very active over the past hour and I assume my image is extra tight.

$1/$2 - Venetian, Las Vegas

I'm dealt 93o in the BB.

5 limpers, SB calls, I check.

How would you play it?

You should have bet right out on the flop, but as played I check. There's no reason to believe a losing range to play against has materialized among your opponents. If someone bets after checking, check raise them light.

Hope someone has a 9 and bet out 2/3-3/4 pot.

Bet the flop.

Having checked, I would throw two or three red chips into the pot and hope for the best.

Live players call a lot more often than online players, you must bet out in spots like this because you're going to get small bets called by KQo on this flop.

Also, I like bluffing a little in spots like this. It's a cheap way to build a suspect image.

Fnord, do you like bluffing this in online games and do you plan to follow up or shut down on turn?

Playing 7-way limped pots isn't a spot I worry much about online.

I think image plays like getting caught bluffing in a small pot are best reserved for live play.

Also, it helps to immediatly get delt in, post whatever you have to. "Lets gamble!"

After an orbit or so if the game isn't on total fire, ask if straddles are allowed, then do it. Next orbit yell at the guy next to you for forgetting to remind you to post your straddle.

Other than getting hands like a pair of 5's or overcards to call the turn bet, I don't see any reason to bet. Unless a 5 or 3 comes on the river, we gotta think we have the nuts.... so, let people catch up!

I'm willing to bet that at least one player has a weak ace or a gutshot straight draw. How about a low pocket pair? If one of these beautiful cards hit, we're in the money.

i agree. i probably lead on the flop but i don't want to blow out people with overs since there are probably several. when i hit the boat on the turn, i might actually bet out a bit weaker than before? it would be nice if the board was a bit more connected or suited. i guess i hope someone has a worse 9 at this point. but we definitely need to be building the pot. and sometimes small bets induce bluffing which leads to big pots.

If I bet the flop, I'm betting what I have to on the turn to get all the money in.

A lot of these players are thinking in absolute $$$, not relative $$$ nor are they thinking ahead. By building pots we get them stuck in tough spots in big pots more often than not. Hence, why I loosen up a little on betting cheap streets in these games. They start out calling a small bets because they're not so sure, although I am kinda tight.... then life gets interesting...

Thanks for all the great advice. I espcially like what you said Fnord. I agree 100% that the players think in terms of it's only $5 or it's only $10 bucks instead of thinking that the $10 bet is actually a pot sized bet.

As played: I checked. Everyone one checked to the button who bet $5. I raised it to $25 and both the CO and the Button called. The river was a Queen and I bet out $50. The CO raised me all in for an additional $68. The button folded and I called. The CO held 98.

I knew I had gotten lucky that he held the case 9 in his hand, which is why I wanted to post it and see how you all would play it. I am not sure why this guy didn't bet the flop or the turn, apparently he thought he should slow play top pair (and then trips) from late position.

Stop right there. Any line with "check" in it is bad.
