    Default FR changes at UB

I started playing FR after reading Renton's "why we should play FR" post two months ago. I'm glad I did. One thing he mentions is that the fish are much more pervasive there than at 6-max. It was moderately true at UB, and in the last two weeks I've noticed something else.

In Dec 07, typical weekend traffic on UB at NL10 would have 20 games of 6-max averaging like 50% see-the-flop with maybe 7 - 10 FR games at 30%. Now, there are rarely more than half a dozen 6-max tables (rarely above 40%), but often 30+ FR tables, now with half or more 50% and about 1/6 of them 60%+ see-the-flop.

Has anyone else noticed these kinds of drastic changes at your sites? Or at UB at different levels? FR used to be a bunch of weak-tights, and a wide-open TAGG approach (maybe 20/16) worked well for me. Now, I'm playing TAGG but much tighter (14/12, last 5k hands), now that the Loose-Passives dominate the FR tables.

Oddly, even though most of the tables at 6-max suck, when I find a 6-max table with 50% see-the-flop profile, I find HUGE fish there. So 6-max is very profitable, but I can usually find 1 - 3 tables there worth playing during any given session.

Of course, the mega-fish who now flock to FR more than make up for it.

Just wondering if there's something going on the poker world that's driving it? Doesn't seem to be anything at UB - their bonuses, BBJ tables and other structural details haven't changed. Any thoughts?

BTW, UB sometimes has a reputation in the forums for being too TAGGy for big profits. That is changing big time, at least at NL10 and NL25.

its everybody that read Renton's article coming back to FR. they think THEY are TAGs, not the fish. so, your games have loosened up...lol.

(i really have no idea. i just thought it funny since most players think they are way better than they really are)
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

any idea if this holds true at 50nl? FullTilt isn't famously weak at this limit - still exploitable, but if there's worthwhile bonus + weak players + rakeback at UB, then I should probably consider a move - at least to check it out. I was planning to wait until May but...

NL50 is where the BBJ tables start at UB, so the NL25 games are reasonable, but a big jump from NL10. My view is that the fish who are half-rolled for NL25 go play NL50 BBJ quarter-rolled, praying for a miracle. Since I'm not at that level (and hate lotteries, period), I don't know if the NL50 BBJ action is loose and fishy enough to cover the extra rake. There do not appear to be a lot of good NL50 tables that aren't BBJ, so I'll probably be looking to move when I'm pwning NL25 - now that may be a year from now! Just my $.02 from viewing in the lobby.

I don't read 2+2 except when linked from FTR, and first thought was maybe somebody over there picked up on Renton's idea. But that can't be it - it's way too fishy for anyone who actually READS poker forums (though your post did make me laugh).

Somehow UB has managed to get an extra 2k fish on the site at micros FR. I'm hoping my massive expansion in multitabling from 9 to 15 (half way there!) will help take advantage while it lasts.

The funny thing is that the fish move right up. I see fish I dominated at NL10 play at NL25 after a month of what HAS to have been losing/pwn'd. I hope to keep building serious BR at NL10 and then move up, too. They'll be there, giving it away 2.5x as fast.
