I actually played poker today, and this was a hand that befuddled me a little bit. It's not a difficult hand or anything, but I'd like some feedback about it.

Reads: Absolutely no reads, this was at most his 5th hand at the table, he had not entered a pot yet before this hand.

i call but folding is fine. Just dont worry about calls that seem super marginal on early streets, they're not worth focusing on.

How is this a call exactly? Looks like an easy fold to me.

It's a call because 88 is in the top 20% of our range here. If you fold 80% or more of your range to a resteal, then your open raise might as well be dead money. I'm going to have to quit donkaments and start playing a 40BB stack if people really fold here.

There still is a world of difference between 40bb and 20bb or even 10bb. Sure at those depths I'm going to GAMB00L. However as the money gets deeper we can still get the best of a wild push with a tight calling range because we make up so much more ground when we do wake up with a very strong hand against all the blinds we give up.

What ranges are we putting the button and SB on? Not a lot of players are moving in here from the SB 20%+ and we need to consider the chance the button has a hand. Also, we're new to these guys, I want to see what's up before I go GAMB00L.

Well, because he was short I snap-called this but I think it was a mistake. I think at best I am almost always flipping here or way behind, so it would probably be best to toss the dollar away and wait for a better spot to get it in.

Yeah i think this is a clearer fold actually than i originally thought. Against most ranges i pokerstoved here your equity doesn't exceed 40%, which isn't enough.
