Default Chiefs closing in on deal to ship only pro bowler to Vikes

The Kansas City Chiefs seems to be getting all sorts of high on draft week euphoria. I don't know if "King" Carl celebrated too much on 4:20 or what. but he is trying to ship the only piece of the KC roster that has any trade value out of town for more draft picks. I wonder if they have ever heard of the Rookie Cap.
It is so easy to replace 15.5 sacks on defense these days, so why not?

Great offseason for the vikes. They dump that bum Williamson and pick up Berrian and soon to be Allen. I wonder if the Chiefs would ship Gonzales to the vikes for a 4th and 5th round pick?

Chiefs will never resign him... this gets pretty near to his maximum possible value.. and if he fucks up one more time.. he's suspended for a year. I'd say happy trails as well...

    Vikes now offering 2008 1st and 3rd, and 2009 2nd... cya Jared.

i can see why a chiefs fan would be frustrated, but i think allen hates KC already and you might as well get some value.

also, all that aside, what does the rookie pool have to do with anything? it's not a preset amount; it is adjusted for all of a team's draft picks.

Seriously though, the guy is not going to sign long term with KC, and doesn't he already have two DUI's? Even if keeping him wasn't an issue, it's only a matter of time before he gets in trouble again and gets suspended.

If they can get a couple guys who can be solid contributors in exchange for getting rid of a headache (though obviously one with lots of talent), and do it before his career goes into a down spin, I think thats the best move for them.

and on another note...FUCK the vikes and FUCK steve hutchinson!

Aren't Larry Johnson, and Tony G. Both prow bowlers?

As for getting Jared Allen out of KC, Getting rid of a guy for a couple of DUI's makes no sense. That having been said, he terrorized Jay Cutler last year, so GO GO GO, Get to minnesota you drunk!

this is true... each teams rookie pool is announced after the draft based on all the picks a team made.

Good to know about the rookie cap. I did not know that.
As for pro bowlers, Larry & Tony G. have been in the past but not last year.
As for Jared, the Chiefs may get fair value for him(1st/3rd-08 & 2nd in 09), but I still don't see them replacing a DE of that caliber with any of those picks. I guess we have so many holes as a team, so whatev's. Now that Jake Long signed my dream of a stud left tackle is dead.

Chiefs agree to send Allen to Vikings

The Chiefs have agreed to trade Pro Bowl DE Jared Allen to the Vikings, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Jared Allen traded for the Vikings' 1st and 2 3rd-round picks. Allen get's $31,000,069 in guaranteed money... no word if there are stipulations about his getting suspended again.. but I would have to imagine it's in there somewhere.

I think the Chiefs are now in a position of tremendous leverage depending on who falls to them... if I were a Chiefs fan I'd advocate for a trade down.. to the low teens. You still likely get an impact LT.. and many more picks. This draft is very deep for picks in the first 3 rounds are phenomenal.

Yep we need a trading partner though, like say New Orleans. Anybody else want a big run stopper like Sedrick Ellis or a stud
    QB like Ryan? Baltimore?
As is the 17th pick is huge. Now we can take a QB or DE with the 5th and wait on the OT till later. At #5 an OT not named Jake Long is a reach with all of the holes in our roster. We'll see who of the top 6 guys in this draft falls and then go from there. Here's what I'd like to see, but I've prob. been drinking too much to be this optimistic:
    Fins - Jake Long
    Rams - Chris Long
    Falcons - Matt Ryan
    Raiders - McFadden
    Chiefs - Glenn Dorsey

Then at #17 we can take a good CB or OT that falls to us.

At least we don't have to pay Jared 74 million. Wow.

That would be pretty great... though I REALLY REALLY want Dorsey for the Rams.

I also think someone will bust a nut and trade up for Dorsey... the guy is the best talent in the draft, imo.
