That's great news. I discovered poker a week ago. I had seen people playing it all around me before but thought that it was a 'game of cards' and so just down to luck so didn't bother looking into it.
During the tennis rain at wimbledon I saw an advert for a free roll on betfair and thought oh well I might as well give it a go I can't see the tennis update and it's free...
Well as I read a bit to try to familiarise myself with the rules I started to get hooked - I played in a couple of free rolls on betfair and then a couple of days later found pkr (inspired to check their website out from an advert I saw on TV) I was so pleased when I saw that the graphics were similiar to the TV advert! Completely immersive and 3d.
Well I've been playing for about 4 hours a night the past 4 nights and love it. So i'm really pleased there is a free roll for the forum! I haven't entered any of the pkr free rolls because they fill so quickly, but hopefully I'll be able to get into this one.
*** Can someone confirm the GMT time please, am I right in thinking ET 3PM is GMT 8PM?
One last thing, I'd just like to say thanks to the people that run the forum and the people that post. I've only played for fun money so far, and have got to the final of a couple of tournaments in just my couple of days playing. I managed to do really well with the free money when I first started first two days I played solid for hours and didn't seem I could lose! However the next night having rushed in to play again I found I was losing. Thankfully all play money. This continued the next evening and I was dissapointed to say the least.
Whilst looking to find some strategy etc and trying to understand odds which seem to be so important to the game, I stumbled accross a couple of articles on this lovely forum.
One in particular that was very helpful was the one that mentions self discipline as being the vital ingredient for success. After reading the articles here I got to the last two in a 50 player tournament and also got 5k play money up to 100k yesterday.
However I have since lost it and have to start again tonight. I lost it when I deviated from the principles that I learnt from this site, namely treating every hand the same, and not being emotionally sucked in with wins or losses.
Anyway I'd just like to say thanks for the articles and site, It's already helped me and I'm sure my game will continue to improve as I study more of it's teaching!
- I look forward to seeing some of you in the freeroll !
