Default $25 NL: re-raised from the blinds after opening PP

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what to do after getting reraised from the blinds pre-flop after opening with PPs, especially on the button.

Are my opponents re-raising light standing up to a steal attempt? Do I need to be worried about this at $25 NL?

Should I be calling a 3x re-raise with 44 even if the effective stack sizes do not justify a call? With 88?

I know a lot of this depends on the opponent. For this assume a 21/15 villain who himself attempts to steal ~30%. No other reads.

if stacks are 100bb, than i will mostly call with low pp's, because we have good set odds. most every player at 25nl have very tight 3betting ranges, except for the psycho aggro donks. honestly, i would play just about every PP (TT or less) for set value.

set mining for 3 bets is really not good unless the player is a real donkey. I think CTS talks about this in like 5 different videos. Generally you'll be calling roughly 12 BB to win at most 106BB and thats just not gonna work out well for you unless the villian is a real donk. Even if you stack him 100% of the time you hit a set this is close to zero EV, take into account the times he bet/folds AK/AQ/etc when you flopped a set and the times you get set oversetted, and you will find its pretty seriously minus EV to sc with small pairs unless you think you can steal a lot of pots postflop where you dont hit sets.

Saying we have good set odds here is very not true and is a serious leak.

Agree with tarath that only sethunting will not be profitable.

In my experience calling with PP's against 3bets is only +EV when you are calling a certain number of flops that villain missed with his overcards and he'll give up on the turn.

What interests me is if we should bet turn when checked to, or not. If we do, our hand doesn't seem to matter.

100bb deep we dont have set odds and unless we plan on floating flops and playing back at villains with a likely 3rd/4th pair on the flop/turn then a fold is standard.

I am never calling a 3 bet with a pp less than 1010 without history and the intention of getting it in light on a lot of flops.

i stand corrected. thanks for pointing that out. i generally fold low pp's to 3 bets, but mix it up with calling, as i dont want my opp to think he can 3 bet me every time and pick up dead money.

That's where the light 4 bet can be a lovely thing when employed correctly.

I agree, calling 3bets we almost never have set odds, especially in the blinds. a leak you gotta plug.

i think light 4betting here at 25nl with 44 or 77/88 is a bit too light for 25nl... we will behind too much. I think you can employ AK/AQ perhaps... what range would you suggest mee?
