25nl dabbling and losing

So I am winning, but not crushing $11 sng player. I keep playing a little bit of 25nl trying to get in, playing well for a while but always seem to run into trouble and drop a buy in or 4. I think I overrate my FE at 25nl, since noone makes semi big laydowns and always need to win races and I run bad and lose.

So I was playing 6 max the other day and this hand stood out and I was a little lost.

Me and villain are both at about 150 bb deep.

I saw him call a 4 bet pot with A10s earlier so I think hes a donk pretty much.

I have AJd utg+1, make a standard raise to $.75. HE is CO and makes a small 3 bet to $2.25 I think.

Normally I fold here but I'll see a flop with this guy because I think/hope I can outplay him and we are deep.

Flop Comes 7d, 9c, 10d.

I have nut flush draw plus gutshot, and ace might be a live out. I bet $4.00 into $6.00 pot as a semi bluff/blocker. If he has AK/AQ he might fold. He instashoves. Like $40 ish more.

Did I butcher this and, what to do? Gamble I guess?

What range do you put him on? Here's what I'd put him on...it's a call all day, and I think I'm being generous.

Pretty Much 99+ A10s+ AQ+. Preflop.

When he shoves I think its gotta be like 99+.

I know its prob at worst pretty close to flipping and its a gamble.

Its just that he shoved $40 into a pot of $10 so I am not getting great odds.

Is the rest of the hand played ok?

A $4 blocker bet into a $6 pot doesn't make any sense to me. If you check, he'd probably Cbet around that and you'd get the result you'd wanted to acheive when you hoped he'd just call your $4. Instead you're facing a shove.

If you think he could have AK,AQ you'd more likely get a fold check-raising him and you have alot of potential outs if he calls or then pushes over you.

Yeah I hear you. I just felt like if I check hes likely gonna pot bet this flop and probably the turn as well. If I miss the turn am I gonna want to call another pot bet?

C/R prob would be better on flop.

Obviously it didnt play out that way but it was my thinking.

If you check, and he pots, dance around in front of the monitor, then shove all in. You have 13 outs twice. Leading into him isn't the worst, but if you know he's cbetting here 70% of the time (it's probably more like 90% in reality) you get more money by check-raising, so that's optimal.

We don't want to play a turn, because our hand is best now, and won't be on a brick turn, so we want to get all our money in the middle right now. If he calls you all in on the flop, you're getting the right price, and winning half the time, and he might fold, in which case you take down a nice pot.

But this is all definitely a preflop fold, and you should have raised 4xBB originally.

As I mentioned, I would normally fold to this 3 bet preflop but villain is a loose donk and we are deep.

Edit: Not trying to rub it in; you obviously acknowledge you made a bad call preflop. Just emphasizing my point.
Re-Edit: As for outplaying him postflop, well a big part of that is position, which you don't have, and folding/trapping. AJs doesn't often make the kind of hand you're going to trap with. I guess a flop of TQK, when he has a set, but that's about it, and then you won't really be trapping as such. When you do hit you're in a wa/wb spot nearly always (a flush when he might have set is the only exception that springs to mind).

Yes, I know. Its just that villain was such a donk and if I flop big I think he will stack light and we are both 150-160 bb deep.

I dropped 3 BIs to coolers, getting outdrawn so was thinking a little too much about obvious shit.
