Im considering staking a good friend to play either 100 or 200nl. he went 'pro' (read dropout of uni) on a $5k BR, since then he has had to drop down due to living expenses, bad run of cards, by quite a bit. Hes interested in a staking deal, where i fund him for the 200nl (or i prefer 100nl) he was at before he went pro for 50% of profits. my main question is...

in your opinion has mid stakes FR got significantly harder in the recent months? Noticeable different?

My mian concern is every1 at those stakes is: good ldo, but mainly takes the game fucking sersoiuly and does a shit load of studying (ie. the games are a lot tougher than he / me gives them credit for)/

fwiw, i honestly believe he was at least profitable at 200nl 5 months ago

frankly i wouldn't stake someone with such poor money management. This sounds like a losing proposition IMO.

Think of it this way ... you will share in 50% of his winnings, and 100% of his losses.
You are also helping fund his laundry and toilet paper bills.

I would not invest in someone who's life plan was - drop out of a university to play poker professionally starting out with $5000 whether his name was Einstein or Forrest Gump. I wouldn't discourage him from giving it a go - but it doesn't sound like a solid 'investment'.

Now if you've got some money to blow, and this guy's a friend - then feel free - but consider it (privately) as a gift to your friend and if you get paid out of it - that's a bonus.

This is all I will comment on.

A) There is NO! such thing as an "ex" Alcoholic. Ever, no exceptions. Only Recovering Alcoholics.

B)If he has a drinking problem, he needs to get help. But, that's neither here nor there. But that could be the reason for the "downswing" you're talking about.

Even the math says don't do it. 50% of -$5k (or $o profit) = you will be SOL if you stake him.
