Gabe,
Good news! Prof. Cohoon and I have reviewed your situation and your courses, and the CS department accepts you and your advisor's request that those two courses to be counted towards your degree as you requested.
To be specific, we agree to your petition that EVSC 145, Virginia Environment, be counted as one of the three Gen Edu electives for the BSCS degree.
Also, we accept that both ASTR 342 and 348 count as tech electives (despite what our handbook says about ASTR 348).
FYI: the discussion that you and I had about both ASTR courses has encouraged us to talk to Astronomy about the courses and perhaps adjust our rule for everyone if that's warranted. So some larger good may come out of this.
Also, you told me that someone told me that you could not count your ASTR courses for both your SEAS degree (tech electives) and for the minor in Astronomy. Both Jim Cohoon and I think that's wrong, and that you should be able to get that Astronomy minor officially. So you should check again about this. (Perhaps someone in the Dean's office can clarify this.)
Glad this worked out. We're probably not quite as excited about you graduating this term as you must be (!), but we really are happy that it's worked out for you after we reviewed your situation.
