I'm sorta newish here like Slev, and I'm going to defend whoever told him that before the drama starts spewing, if you want, delete my post but I'm so fed up with this Slevin crap I can't help myself. I find it ironic that I'm scared that I might be labeled as a "troublemaker" or something for speaking my mind... quite ironic.

For 1 Sleven, there have probably been hundreds of players who are hanging out in these forums as long as he has, trying to sponge information, who are at least moderately self sufficient in thier own learning. Who would PAY MONEY FOR a fraction of the individualized attention and help that has been given to Slev while he basically spits in everyone's face in one way or another.

I wish you could go back to his first 100 posts or so and see all the crap he edited or deleted out to remind you what an absolute TOTAL prick he was to the regs here when he came. I swear I am not exaggerating. I was suprised back then he was not insta-banned from FTR and I can't believe people are still trying to help him. He's toned down his rhetoric but he still has the same attitude.

I started reading FTR almost exactly the same time as Slev. In that time I've gone from slightly loosing to slightly winning (YAY). And I have not taxed the community in any way.

Which type of person do you want to attract to FTR? People like Slev or people like me? If you want the slev type I suggest heading over to 10nl and start spamming www.flopturnriver.com to the fish and you will get people more deserving of the help who won't be totally annoying to the regs and people who are truly trying to learn.

I haven't spat in anyones face, (and I'm meant to be the rheotorician?) I ignored redpalos comment but seen as you have quoted him for seeming truth and obviously agree I feel I should reply and defend my situation briefly. I'm not engaging in flames etc, as I don't want my thread to be locked, but am just replying to what you have said about me, this once.

There are a couple of people here that have taken a dislike to me, certain people think everyone should look up to them and if new members don't genuflect to their every intonation they take offence. There are a few more people (about 2 or 3) that think no member of the community has a right to share a different opinion on a subject they have expressed an opinion on. These people are easily noticed as they contributed to about 50% of my previous op threads, and the start of this one.

These people are very few and are completely insignificant in relation to the dozens of people here, that regularly and daily offer advice from their heart wanting to help a new player.

I am sure that the people that count here can see through this, but I would hate for just one person to read these posts and form a poor opinion of me so I'd like to re-clarify a few things. I have on many occasions stated that I am grateful etc. for this forum, because I truly am. I do not 'spit on' anyone. Also in relation to when I first joined and the comments about me being a 'prick' I have not edited ANY posts I have ever made, to change meaning. All edits I have ever made to my posts are for grammar, punctuation, or because I feel I could express a point in a more succinct fashion. This is clear because I am sure any edits I have made will appear within minutes of the post.

Prior to the middle of this OP thread, I was being railed by two people at FTR who were insulting me and mocking me at the tables, trying to belitlle me on a daily basis. That is why on occasion I may seem less than tolerant to the views of these people when they post in threads I have created. So if an 'outsider' wonders why I don't just ignore them, this is why I have tended to bite in the past.

When I first joined I had the luxury of ignorance both with regards to forum life, and poker. I had not really been involved in a forum before (barring a game forum which I posted a couple of times on a few years ago) - so when people chose to tell me how stupid some of my ideas about poker were, in an untactful way, I took this personally and didn't appreciate that occasionaly people just say things as they see them on forums, and care little for the way what they saying might be interpreted. I now see this is natural and expedient to timely replies etc... but at the time I was quite naive.

You have referred to my earlier posts when I joined, when I was a 'prick' - I can only assume this is what you were referring to Redpalo, my replies to these people. I took the trouble to review my earlier posts in light of your post, because I am an open minded individual. My knee jerk reaction was, OMFG I can't beleive these tiny minority of people. I wondered what is wrong with you and the few others that have to constantly seek to attack me in these forums. Then I stopped. I was open-minded, I thought - hang on Gary, perhaps giving this constant agenda, they are right? Maybe I did set things off on the wrong footing and they have just characterised me accordingly? So I reviewed my posts, all of them in fact and can safely say I never behaved rudely to anyone - aside from the VERY occasional response, to a less than sanguine comment made towards me.

OK. This is far too long. I just wanted to try to clear the air once and for all. I do not ask you Redpalo, Prozach, or any one else that is blinded to me and just sees their own stereotyped slevin when they look at my posts, to read any. When you start publicly lablelling me as a 'prick' and pronouncing that I 'spit on people' that offer advice I have to answer, for fear that someone that does not know me, might read this and actually beleive some of it.

A point of example - what I referred to earlier about the odd person railing my games from FTR and trying to put me off, and just generally insulting me (so much so that I had to call a moderator to the one of the tables) - was unpleaseant, if I was the person described above, you might imagine I would then decide to treat others in a similiar fashion? But of course I would never do such a thing, because I am not such a person.

In fact Prozach you, who have echoed the sentiments of redpalo, what was the last conversation we had? I think if you cast your memory back it was two days ago, when I spotted you in a tournement and - decided to wish you luck at the table. You'll take this down, no worries - good luck was my comments, you actually engadged in conversation with me.

Now two days later this? I have just given up trying to empathise or understand where you few people are coming from any longer.

I think anyone that does not know me, if they please read my posts, or speak to me, they will see that I am a decent person. I am sick to death of the minority that insist on treating me this way. FTR (thinking back to all who have helped me and offered advice) is far too valuable for me to throw away for the sake of you few - so rest assured, if your plans were to make me leave, that will never happen.

Now I hope that nonsense is dismissed with.
    -------

Seen as I'm posting - I may as well update any out there that are interested in where I am at . I still intend not to post for a few months - although I will still be reading strategy here etc... every now and again.
I have some real life things I'm sorting out (have made some fairly good progress already just in this past day) while I am away from the tables, which in turn will make it easier for me to play my 100% A game when at the tables, and I hope, lessen the bankroll discipline problems I have been having.

I have already put a lot of thought into my BR, and am actually going to become a BR nit, believe it or not - I intend to play with 100 buy ins for each limit, I haven't just cropped this number out of thin air though - I have worked it out in great detail - and I think for me that will be the optimum number! I'll let you all know how I came to that number when I return full time to FTR and start posting again (which by current estimates will be about 6-8 weeks from today).

My plan is to have beaten 2nl and 5nl by the time I return, over about 25k hands in each limit - I'll be playing 8 hours a day for the next approx 8 weeks and if my rough estimates are anything to go by I should have the BR to move to 5nl in about 3 weeks, and the BR to move to 10nl in about 4 weeks after that, which will be the point at which I hope to return and re-launch my poker journey on a firm footing!

Please mods, don't lock this thread, I'd like to continue it when I return- I promise not to reply to any more negative comments - I just wanted to try to set the records straight.

In my defense since you insinuate that I lied about post editing, I specificially remember threads involving dean and jyms where you were "toning down" and re-editing posts and at least in one case completely removing a post directed toward a reg. I don't have the time to find this post in all the threads, but I looked a little for it and I am not exaggerating, you were a prick. You still thumb your nose at people trying to help you although you have toned down you're rhetoric, I stand by that as well. I was trying to give FTR my perspective because I am certain there are other newer players, like me, that have watched your "poker journey" unfold and not be to anyone's advantage, not yours, not ours, not the regs. No one has benefited from this and it's a big waste of time. It is also not a neutral force in the community, it is hurting it.

Here are some reminders for you and anyone else who cares. I also suggest a mod locks the below threads to protect them from being edited, many of the posts have edits in them already. Perhaps people who came late to the Saga would benefit from seeing how some of the other Regs and people who frequent the newbie forum started out with you, and be a little bit more understanding of their perspective. After this kind of start + all that's going on, I hope they give some of the guys that are REALLY getting flipping annoyed a little more credit than it seems some are.

    this is a small sample.

I am a very nice, helpful and reasonable person as are many who have tried to help you here. But at some point you have to realize there is no hope for a situation, shut the door and move on. I'm just sticking up for the guys who feel that way, and it's my right.

Many people, good at whatever they do, like to pick up some "pet project" person to help out, but usually they show some promise or at least the correct attitude.

    redpalo,

You certainly took great effort to express your contempt at the attention that Slevin has been getting and to tell people to stop helping him. You've explicitly stated the thoughts with which all the other trollers have only toyed around. Congratulations.

You've also deliberately ignored my last warning about posting this stuff in someone's Op thread. Don't attempt to pretend you didn't see it, as you've obviously been following the Slevin drama.

    Strike One. Congratulations.
