I actually had a plan here.
I had been at this table a while and had played my big hands pretty strongly. I played my big pairs very fast and I went about building big pot immediately when I flopped strong hands. I had bought in for $50 and dwindled down, built back up by showing down the absolute nuts a couple of times.
I wanted to change up my play a bit here...and I thought that playing AA slow preflop would be a good way to start. I'm not a real strong believer in narrowing the field with AA...I'm ok with 2 or even 3 callers, because I want someone to go broke on top pair. Repopping is often useless here because most of these guys were weak-tight and it does tend to broadcast your hole cards.
My plan was to play the flop very fast...however, the texture of the flop made me puke. Leading out here takes a real hand most of the time, I think...
At this point, I just wanted to keep the pot under control. I realize I still have a good hand and have some potential redraws...
The way this was played, the shover could have several marginal hands that have me beat -- KQ/KJ/QJ/AT/T9...plus a miniscule chance that he has a very strong hand -- KK/QQ/JJ...
For the price, I should have called, but I honestly felt I was beat. The only hands I think I beat here are AK, KT, QT...I think he checks behind with JT.
