villain starts opening for 2x 50NL deep PLHE

So I was playing some guy... seemed somewhat solid post-flop, but wasn't 3-betting a lot, and didn't 4-bet.
He ran like 56/45 with 7% 3-bet over the whole session (~150 hands)
And I 3-bet like 25%.
He opened for 3x for the first 50 hands, and then went down to 2x but started 4-betting me more often.
So at this point I'm not really sure what my ranges should be. I started flatting more often, when I think I could have 3-bet.
At the end of the session he had 7% 3-bet and 20% 4-bet
Didn't get many hands to 5-bet him with... And I'm not sure what range that would be anyway... maybe TT+ AJs+
I don't really like flatting too much being OOP and stuff... that's why I started flatting the minraises with some hands I would have 3-bet earlier, and I'm kind of confused... I mean because flatting the 4-bets feels even more gross.

3betting becomes a bigger mistake for a few reasons, especially if you're deep and it's a pot-limit game. Any come to mind?

I guess if the villain is able to adjust and 4-bet a reasonable amount of times, I can be put in some marginal situations, and I can't put as much pressure on on the flop, and I can't always 5-bet shove to close the action?
So when he starts minraising/ 4-betting more, then flatting more often is fine?...
I don't think that my initial 3-betting range was too wide when he was opening for 3x because he didn't adjust, and I was basically +EV just by fold equity.

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking they need to win OOP. In hu you should just try to breakeven out of position as a standard goal.

When someone minraises, they're allowing you to see flops for very cheap. Call a wide range preflop, even wider if they're checking behind a lot of flops.
