    Default just a sidenote

I will not be playing in anymore events, nor will I be posting in anymore freeroll threads. They win, I quit trying. I can't take it anymore.

This is not a joke post and would love some support

Only the 4 green though, right? The rest either require a buy-in, or signing up through a banner.

    I approve this message.

Seriously, I think the freerolls were just starting right after I got here (maybe not idk) and it wasn't that bad. Now theres like 500 new members every day and they are all posting stupid shit. The BC sucks ass now lol
  11. #11
I agree, I was actually considering posting in the feedback forum about how many useless threads pop up when freerolls are happening.
  12. #12
i hope that none of my threads have come across as stupid like that i am honestly interested in learning and becoming a better poker player, and if my threads kinda sound useless im sorry,

Can I suggest that a new section is added specifically for Freerolls. The freetrollers can then post all their crap without disrupting all the other parts of the forum , maybe have Flomo as a considerate moderator lol.Even let them have a pseudo post count so that they think they are being productive, but their true post count will only be gained on the strategy parts of the forum.

Why have freerolls at all. You're not attracting the kind of members you want anyhow, or getting posts you actually want to read. The $3-5 buyins with money added are fine.

    Still Hungry?

I don't want to bump heads with the roid-rage guy again. However, if a forum owner is trying to attract new members. This is a great way to do it. Sure it's hard for mods and admin to keep track of all the crap. But, it is what it is. We all know the retention is low for the members that jump in and just want a password. But, if you want new traffic. You have to do these sort of things.

Unfortunately, I do agree with jyms. In that, there is tons of spam that someone has to deal with. But, I am not a fan of how seriously ignorant jyms gets with some of the individuals. Maybe the admin and mods should get together and communicate about the plan.

I find this site very informed and know that there are millions of people out there that can learn from FTR. However, it's going to be hard to gain new people and help them along with their games if this is the approach that is taken. The first impression may be the last. You never know which new member may help this site get better. Just think about that, please.

How about you suggest how it should be dealt with since you know more than us mods.

Relax, I didn't say that. I am just saying that patience is very important at this time. I have no clue what or why FTR is going this route. That information isn't presented to me. However, when I want traffic to one of my sites. I promote it by listing freerolls. It generates tons of traffic. It is tons of work for mods like yourself. We may only get 3% retention but we all know that going in. I am not saying I know everything nor that I know more then you. I truly hope that the mods and admin meet and communicate about such things. I just don't see where getting upset with the people trying to come in helps anyone. That's my point jymns. That and only that.

I came to this forum orginally after spotting a cash-added micro buyin tourney on Fulltilt BUT if I had heard about it from one of my poker friends and knew what I could gain from this site, it'd be more enticing than any tourney posted on a site once a month.

As far as the freerolls go, I can't stand them and the infiltration of a ton of garbage posts is just a huge drag. None of my business as this place isn't my business... but personally if I were thinking about running a forum I'd go about it the same way in which I've seen this site going just recently (ie. I believe freerolls only for newbies who've signed up to poker sites via the forum's links.. it only makes sense). Tell me.. how many freeroll password whores are going to bring anything decent to a forum anyways? You can surf around to the different forum freerolls and listed in them you'll find 95% are all the same players playing in all of them... just a different name of a forum for a heading in the tourney lobby. They're full-time freerollers... who needs 'em (how do I know you ask.. lol... curiousity and a former propensity for some occassional freeroll mania while on tilt,... nah.. I've got some friends who play in a bunch of them).
Any of my friends that I talk to and inquire about some kind of poker advice, I always just send them to this site instead (tell them to read thru the stickys and then start checking out the posts).
my 2cents... probably worth less than that...

The biggest problem with freerolls is you will always have FRW's in addition to password thieves or sharers. The ONLY way around this is to submit an "allow" list to the poker site or only hold freerolls for linked sign ups. I know many forums have freerolls to "reward" their regular members, but IMO if a forum is going to the expense of having these, it should be for members who suppport the forum by participating in the buyin games. I appreciate there will be members who are trying to build a bankroll, but why should they be allowed to win freeroll money from a forum and then go and play either ring or public games with what they have won ?. Better to have freeroll prizes on a normal payout scale minus $5.50 or whatever and the players are required to play a buyin game within the next 30 days.

I didn't come here for the freerolls, so fuck them all as far as I'm concerned. From what I understand though, I'm not even allowed to play FTR buy-in tournaments with money added, because I didn't find this site until after I'd deposited (hence no bonus code).

Do you guys do buy-in tournaments with no money added? I assume I'd be allowed to play in one of those, and I'd love the opportunity to stack off with some of you.

    Again, screw the freerolls.

You look in the Passwords Forum. There you will find the PW's to get into the Buy In games with money added.

There's one on titan on monday night, but the post about it says you have to have signed up through ftr to play. I know I could just use the password, but I don't want to get in trouble.

    Default my 2 cents

it is possible that some people probably feel like they are not good enough yet to drop $1000 dollars into a poker site and start grinding.
Yes, I think there are a lot of FRW plus the crappy play in the freerolls is annoying as hell (all-in with any 2 cards for an hour...boring and unclever).
I am also sure it is maddening to the mods to get 1000 "how do i get password to freeroll please" posts.
Password lurkers are lazy and stupid and dont represent all the people who also play in the freerolls who do so without making asses of themselves.
Still and all, I think freerolls have a place in this system and saying "FUCK THE FREEROLLS!Let them pay for the money added buy-ins" is elitist and petty.
Freerolls are a pain to play in, most likely a pain to host, from what i can see they are a pain to mod. They also generate traffic to FTR, and if 1% of the people in freerolls are in them for real, they will most probably use this site to better their game, probably sign up for another poker site (direct sign up!), download software, maybe even buy some FTR merchandise, and that unfortunately is the whole reason for the freerolls.

So when's the FTR money added with a buy in of $1,000?

I'm pretty sure they start at around 2 bucks.

An FTR money added freeroll for LOYAL FTRers (250+, 500+ posts or something) would be well received, methinks.

Make it 700+ and we get to exclude Flomo.. Which I believe will also be well received.

freerolls is not why i came to this site i came to learn the basics so i dont have to play in freerolls with people who dont have a clue but the almighty all in on 28 suited is such a big hand besides there are so many freerolls out there on different sites it is not a realistic way to build a br most payouts are 1 to 4% of the field total insanity . this site is full of knowledge if u spend the time to read .
