    ...Good Question........Where am I?

Default I just want to read this when I'm at 1KNL

    Reason for Blog:
Honestly I've just been on a serious kick lately about writing things down since most of the greats in history did. More importantly however, I was examining the other day, why new players have trouble sometimes, myself certainly included (and it's pretty much ongoing thus far). I came to the conclusion that, among other things, there is no sticking to a plan or certain understanding of the game. There is a constant changing of game plans as different advice is considered. Anyway, I haven't given this topic a great deal of thought, nor formulated any strong opinion on it, so I'll leave it at that.

    Poker History:
Started about a year ago screwing around, avg. Fish dropping a $50 deposit, maybe 2. Found FTR, started learning a little, and started to apply BR management. Quick to move up to 10nl, got stuck for a little while moved to 25NL lingered a while, but came to a point where I moved quickly to 50NL, did great there really felt I was understanding the game, moved to 100NL Got my ass handed to me, which meant I likely ran hot to some degree in 50NL (I should note, I really did feel my understanding was improving, and likely would have thought so despite results, but I can't say for sure.) Anyway, after that I screwed around half ignoring BR management, furthering my poker careers downward spiral. After which I stopped playing for a few months and here I am. I play now with a greater separation from poker. I intend to improve and intend to work constantly and consistently on not being personally affected or emotionally affected by poker. I will be going to school in time, (Engineering most likely) which gives me greater relaxation regarding poker, I no longer feel like poker is my only shot out of unskilled labor time wasting. (Not that it ever was, but for whatever reason I think I unconsciously viewed it as such.)

    Anyway, down to business:
My intention is to play 30K hands before trying to do any "work" on my game other than personal reflection of sessions and hands. After which make some assessments about my game and ask some more specific questions from some of the many better players here.

As a first entry, I just thought I'd post my very little progress thus far:

    3 sessions
    1.7K hands
    +3.2 BI's ( only 1.5 in HEM EV )

Only questionable spots so far (worth noting) are some blinds play perhaps. I just want to start out making plays I'm comfortable with for the most part, play aggressive and keep it tight (not nitty) to avoid a lot of situations I might not play accurately, or feel comfortable with. I'll probably make another entry around 10K or just whenever I consider something worth note.

    ...Good Question........Where am I?

    Default 5/23/09

    Just cuz:

Most Hands I have a problem with, it's fairly easy to go back later and see what was probably best. This next hand presented itself in a weird situation where I wanted to get as much money in as I could vs a massive station, but instead, did so w/ someone who was playing station-esk, and the only reason I stayed was because I had shown down twice in big pots w/ the near bottom of my range recently.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Button ($54.20) High VP$P, but only 40 hands, and stats easily could be skewed by huge station to his direct right.
Hero (SB) ($93.50) Shown down Bottom of range recently in big pots(after showing aggression)
    BB ($50)
    UTG ($22.50)
    MP ($81.95)
    CO ($149.60) Huge Station

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q, A
UTG calls $0.50, 1 fold, CO calls $0.50, Button calls $0.50, Hero bets $3.50, 2 folds, CO calls $3, Button calls $3

Really hoping to iso CO... Had CO an ATC, and BTN on med.-low PP's, maybe SC's after the limp/calls. (he was Isolating limper w/ Braodways and the like from what little I saw.)

    Flop: ($11.50) 2, Q, 5 (3 players)
Hero bets $10.50, 1 fold, Button calls $10.50

Great flop vs the station and was willing to go AI pretty easily w/ him, then that, the Set possibility crossed my mind, but no reason to flat it there(doesn't mean he didn't) I still saw SC's and JJ-(I think ~ 88+ at least he would've Iso'd pre though...)

    Turn: ($32.50) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $7, Hero calls $7

Gah, got worse, my play feels weak, but what to do?
After that bet size threw me off I called, and decided to see what he did on the river...(as I said, feels weak OOP, thus this posting...)

    River: ($46.50) J (2 players)
    Hero checks, Button checks

    Total pot: $46.50 | Rake: $2.20[/b]
