Default Sunday 1/4 mill chops (yes pokar in da commune)

2 Emails I got from stars back to back:

PokerStars Tournament #169968151, No Limit Hold'em
    Buy-In: $10.00/$1.00
    29825 players
    Total Prize Pool: $298250.00
    Tournament started 2009/06/14 15:30:00 ET

    Dear starsSN,

Tournament #169968151 has been cancelled due to technical reasons.

When a tournament is cancelled, and players have already reached the money, we refund each player their tournament fee, and then divide up the prize pool based on the following formula:

    - each player receives the minimum prize not yet awarded at the time of cancellation
    - the remainder of the award pool distributed proportionally according to the chip count

At the time of cancellation there were 174 players remaining, and your chip count was 915,119.00. Total chips in play were 89,232,000.00. The remaning prize pool was $140,551.99 and the minimum prize was $140.18.

    Prize pool to be divided equally: $140.18 * 174 = $24,391.32
Prize pool to be divided based on chip count: $140,551.99 - $24,391.32 = $116,160.67

Your share in money equally divided: $140.18
    Your share based on your chip count: $116,160.67 * (915,119.00 / 89,232,000.00) = $1,191.28
    Your entry fee refunded: $1.00
Total money refunded to your account: $1,332.47

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

    The PokerStars Team
    Dear PokerStars Player,

You are receiving this mail because you participated in Tournament
#169968151, the "Sunday 1/4 Million", which began on June 14th at 15:30 ET.

Due to an error with the tournament, 81 players who registered for the
tournament were not able to play, though the system considered them -
internally - as still part of the tournament. Once the problem was
discovered, we paused the tournament while we investigated the error and
decided what to do about it.

Initially, we decided that we would continue the tournament on June 21st.
However, some players objected to this resolution as June 21 is Father's Day in many countries. As a result, we have reconsidered and decided to roll this tournament forward, cancelling further play and awarding prizes based on chip counts, using the formula 'Roll Forward (players in the money)' found on our Tournament Cancellation Policy webpage:

    http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/tour...cancellations/

The following actions are being undertaken to resolve the issue(s) with this
    tournament:

    1. Refund the $11 buy-in to the 81 players who entered but were unable to play
    2. Adjust the prizes for all players whose finishing position was
incorrect, and should have received more money as a result
    3. Roll the tournament forward for the 175 players remaining when the
    tournament was paused

You will be part of the Roll Forward resolution for the remaining players.
The payments for the Roll Forward will be made as soon as possible.

We would like to thank our players for their patience while we worked to
resolve this matter, and again apologize for any inconvenience caused.

    All the best,

    Bryan S.

I didn't email them. I was under the impression that it'd be resuming next sunday as the announcement on the table said for the last few days.

I'm not upset about it. as mcat says "variance free $ is always sweet".

It was just so anti-climactic cuz I've never been that deep in such a big one, so when I built my stack I was like 10/170 and still surrounded by fairly terrible players. I had my eye on the prize so when they paused it, I got a bad case of donkament blue balls.

But knowing me I would have busted doing something stupid so I'll take the monies and run.

you made like 130 buy-ins w/o a soul-crushing bad beat, gg, nh, grats, etc...

oh, i thought they said you won $1300 then said wait nvm we're finishing it.

i would be super happy with the 1300.

    Disappointing? Yes.

Best case scenario? Yes. The structure in that is balls, and you would've had to duck a hole shitload of beats to get $1300 or more. Nice ROI.

    himself fucker.
demanding anything less than the skill-adjusted payout of top prize is the reason why you're all break even players.

Wowzers, how long does that tourney last? You must have been playing for 10+ hours to get down to 170 players?

It was actually only 5 hours or so. 10 min blinds help.
