Default Do not ever buy an HP computer.

As the "proud" owner of two HP products. I can safely say that these are not products you want to own. While when they work they work fine, however this seems expected of any sort of computer. Their customer support is atrocious.

    1) I call with a clear hardware problem they tell me how to make a quick fix type patch so it works fine for a period of time.
    2) I call with a clear hardware problem they tell me how to make a quick fix type patch so it works fine for a period of time.
    3) I then call again and get it sent in. When it gets sent in they do the same quick fix and call it good. I get it back it works for a few days and the quick fix breaks.
    4) I sent it in this time very upset and demanded they did a thorough job. Oddly enough this time hardware got replaced.

That was only for getting a laptop monitor flicker fixed. Currently I am dealing with most likely a bad hard drive for my desktop and am in the process of step 4.

    Not Giving In
FWIW I am going through something similar with Dell. They have been very attainable but they do not listen to a thing I say and keep giving me quick fix crap that won't work/already told them I did. I'm in the process of getting a whole new motherboard + harddrive (for free with warranty) and they are going to ship someone to install it. They could(should) have done this 2 weeks ago ffs like I asked. For some reason I am very nervous that the technician won't even fix it. We shall see.

One you put together yourself imo.

As far as OP, I'll never shop for HP again either.

I bought a custom laptop from them several years ago and had to fight with them for way too long and they still never satisfied me. They got my first order wrong (wrong screen), told me i had to pay to ship the incorrect laptop back, and only after getting it back would they begin to build my new laptop, so this all delayed everything by about 3-4 weeks. (They were generous enough offer to sell me a second laptop and allow me to then return the first after I got the second, but i didn't have an extra $1200 laying around at the time)

Finally, I get the second build and it doesn't have the built-in bluetooth that I had ordered. I argued with them off and on for several weeks, had at least 4 supervisors actually hang up on me midsentence (I admit I was a frustrating customer to deal with, but it was their fault and its the supervisors job to take on the unhappy customers that the first level guy can't deal with) I was promised multiple callbacks by several supervisors and call center managers that never occured. Eventually they send me a laptop back and a USB bluetooth adapter (WTF?!?) which I have since lost (why I wanted builtin).

The laptop itself was a decent piece of equipment (I've had to replace a , but as someone who has worked several customer service and several call center jobs, I KNOW it is not difficult to treat, even pissed off customers, with respect.

Bad customer service is easily one of my top annoyances.

    fuck hp.

LOL, many people I know have and are happy with their hp computers though. I myself have recommended these to people for a long time, and have personally bought for them. No complaints yet, knock on wood.
But it's all laptops though, those bought at amazon or at the dealers here, so no custom config AFAIK.

I was planning to buy an HP DV8T Quad Edition myself (after wanting a macbook pro 13, but after some consideration I found the dv8t which better suits my immediate needs at a pretty good price). Of course I'm gonna go ahead and buy it anyway, as soon as I find out if the caddy for the second hd ships with it when you buy the stock config.

Update: After spending 8 hours of my day getting disconnected and starting tests over again. They finally agreed that it was a hard drive issue. Like I had suggested at the begging of the process. I was told the parts would arrive here today November 6th. The recovery disks arrived yesterday and the hard drive is apparently back logged and will show up sometime in the next 14 days.
