That was a sick fun game though. Bama is just a cool football team to play. I wish we just had 8 straight weeks of Bama v VT. We'd prolly go 1-7 but it'd be a lot of fun.

Of course, we'll prolly drop to 15 but it doesn't matter. We do it every year, get ranked in the top 10, plummet real quick and then spend the rest of the year climbing back only to reclaim our top 10 ranking after our bowl game.

I kinda wish people would stop calling the BYU game a giant upset. OU was not #3 level on offense (at least in terms of discipline) and BYU managed two touchdowns and won by a point FFS. OU couldn't really attack their biggest weakness (middle of their defense) because our backup tight end had to play center instead...Can't help but think Gresham+Bradford=blowout but Backup+run every play=ez game for defense.

Our offensive line was garbage, Special Teams looked like they were straight out of the Special Olympics, and that goddamn RB Ingram from Alabama is a superhuman tank.

Maybe it looked worse than it is seeing as Alabama has a pretty powerhouse squad this year. But what can you do? If we're in the Top10 or playing a nobody high school team it's insta-doomswitch for the Hokies.

I admittedly missed most of the game but I heard Blake DeChristopher (O-line) fucked up quite a bit for Tech. Went to high school with him so my friends and I try to keep an extra eye out but just heard he played poorly and got some penalties...even two penalties in one play. Nice...

And it sickens me to have to pull for the Hokies somewhat now for my gf. But my cousin goes to Bama so have to say I was pulling for them. ACC came ready to play this season!

Sick game... Obviously a devastating loss, but I'm impressed by how well the team played. Bo Pelini has totally transformed this team in 18 months. Our defense was extremely quick to the ball. Limiting VT to a total of 3-4 plays the whole game... the 3rd and 20 conversion, the massive bomb, and maybe counting a couple of runs by the RB. Based on the way Nebraska played.. if we could dial up simulate 1000 games... I think we would likely win >50% of the time. It's amazing cuz going into the game I would've thought it was more like 30%. IDK why we never gave Rex Burkhead some carries because EVERYTIME Helu needed to be spelled, we ended up throwing the damn ball... (why the fuck we were passing the ball in the 4th quarter when it was obvious Zac Lee couldn't hit sand if he fell off a camel) or why we went away from the counter play that averaged about 15 yd/carry for Helu.

I'd like to hear other opinions, but I think that the lack of scoring was due to our offense self-destructing and our defense dominating. But that's probably just due to homer bias...

I hated Bill Callahan for so many reasons (on and off the field)... but if it were HIS team with his schemes on the field on Saturday, we would've lost by 20 or more. This defense was a total pile of crap under Kevin Cosgrove... when Bo stepped in last year he had very little talent and most of it was based on a defensive philosophy of being fat and slow... and to get them to THIS point where they can completely dominate a very good VT team ON the road for 58 minutes... I'm really, really proud of the way the defense played.

Since the fall of Marcus Vick, our offense has been ranked 100+ in the NCAA each year. We've had dismal offensive lines, poor QB play and poor WR play.

Our saving graces were always home field, an awesome D and a top special teams unit (And a down ACC). But that won't be enough to beat Miami and it really shouldn't have been enough to beat Nebraska. But thems the breaks, football is high variance.
