Went to see tonight at the drive-in. Easily going to be the best movie of 2009.

ya, this movie is the nuts. So many nice little easter eggs for tarantino fans. And tarantino is so awesome at drawing out a scene to an incredible length, yet the scene never feels like its overgrown.

I think Pitt was like the 4th best character in the movie, and I'm not sure why I was surprised his role wasn't bigger, guess I just forgot how QT does things.

I just realized what was so awesome about this movie. Sure the movie was amazing and all that, but whats truly awesome is that since it had such a great box office success tarantino is sure to get money thrown at him to do with as he pleases.

Saw this last night. Best thing I've seen in quite a while. Landa is so good, he might be my fave Tarantino character ever.

Before I get bashed, let me say that I'm a huge QT fan and I think all of his films are very good.

The ending wasn't very Tarantino-esque to say the least, maybe he's getting soft on us.

I would probably like the movie a lot more if I looked at it like a series of vaguely related episodes instead of one film. And that's probably why quentin deliberately delineated the chapters. As you imply, I seem to have no problem with the episodic nature of pulp fiction, but I think that's because its so obvious that pulp fiction is supposed to be received that way (the title alone). On the other hand inglourious's theme has a good bit more focus.

I dont hate what he did with the character, but it did feel a little abrupt. And I could definitely agree that it wasnt as eloquently tied up in the end. But then again I think overall the movie did come close to pulp fiction which is pretty fucking amazing.

I was just thinking about the scene in the projector room. I think it was an interesting ying and yang (cant think of a less cliche way to explain it) sort of interaction. The "war hero" had been elevated to this status and became this charming almost likeable person. But through the events earlier in her life shosanna became a almost cold hardened person. Its not exactly a direct switch, but they are in this way an interesting play on character foils. But in their last moments he becomes the monster he truly is, and she becomes the caring compassionate person she really is when she seems to regret that she shot him and goes to check on him.

Yeah they are both basically huge fans of spaghetti westerns and inglourious is meant to be spaghetti western applied to war genre. He even directly lifted most of the music from leone films.

as usual, Tarantino's characters are all cartoons so I wouldn't even worry about whether their motivations/actions are believable or not

I think this can all be explained with him being a sociopath. Its like the scene in schindlers list where the nazi is just randomly walking through the ranks of jews shooting them in the head. Some he points his gun at and doesnt fire.. some he stares down but doesnt fire.. He is the hunter... tracking the actress, closing in, and making the kill.
