1/2 AK oop 3bet

    Default 1/2 AK oop 3bet

basically villain is unknown to me, however in the few hands i had he basically seemed fairly aggro

    21/20 with 9.5 3bet over 100 hands

i seem to be running into these spots a bit too often and i'm not really sure how to approach them.

3bet AK then flop comes something like TJx, QTx, QJx etc .. the thing that bugs me is to me this seems to hit MY RANGE as well as VILLAINS calling range esp if it's a blind vs UTG/MP situation.

i think cbetting and then check-folding blank turns doesn't seem to be that good in my mind but I just think villains' calling range in these spots tends to be strong or am I wrong?

    ---

in this particular spot do you think bet / check / bet-fold is the right play for this board? if so what sizing do you use?

how often does villain have JJ/TT/AJ/AA here versus some weird junk - without history I just dont' know what an overbet means here, but what i do know is that my hand could EASILY be AK in this spot.

I think this is mostly KQ, JT or air. I don't think he'll have very many Jx hands here at all.

I really don't think your hand looks particularly like AK. It's possible, but he might expect you to bet that sometimes on the river even.

Reads on villains bluffing tendencies would be good.

I have a tough time with these boards and AK as well. A lot of the times either the ace or a king isn't an out either and a Q is the only thing u really wanna see. OOP in a 3b pot i would only bet these boards if the guy calls a lot of 3b's and folds to a lot of c bets. Against a tighter three bet calling range id rather c/f and try to pick a better spot.

This is such a weird spot. I dont think this is a bluff. It looks like he tried to get really fancy here and lost a lot of value. The ace is such quite a big part of your range given the way u played it, and he really cant expect you to bluff catch with a worse hand like QQ or KK if you decided to pot control the turn. He could be trying to get you off a chop if he has AK himself. I just dont see q9s try this or 99 or something. I would hate life and fold.

didnt have enough history to know villains bluffing tendencies.

if we bet this river are we bet/folding since its brutally hard for someone esp at 1/2 to bluff shove to a river bet here? i could easily see a QQ type hand calling on the river because they think we have AK or nothing and call anyway but never shove...

should i be checking this flop a reasonable amount of time against the more aggressive opponents and then raising them and likely just check-fold against the nittier opponents (since they're generally not going to be betting here with a hand like 88-99 and if they're betting they'll almost always have set or bare minimum QQ+ ?

this is KQ a lot imo...

you're probably chopping at best, his river shoving range here really shouldnt contain AQ, AT, QQ, KK, the only hands you beat.

I hate these spots with AK OOP here too.. i generally take a similar line, C bet, c/f most turns... im keen to hear other responses as to better lines to take

also, if his preflop range is like AQ+, 99+ you are 46% on this flop. cbet/c/f is def correct on a jack. river you can b/f, or chk/decide, if he doesnt think there are any bluffs in your range preflop a chk/mostly fold seems correct against almost anyone
