22 against LAgg OOP

Villain (BTN) is 62/38/1.4 (VPIP/PFR/Agg) over only 13 hands so I don't have much on him other than he (either for good reason or not) has put a lot into the pot lately. He seemed to have raised the last few hands off the flop as a possible scare tactic which worked.

Flop I checked on the flop and am now debating whether or not that was good. At the time I figured he may have something like 33+,JT+, Ax,Kx,Qx. All of which would fold to a bet on this kind of flop unless he has A8,K8,Q8. In checking I was thinking he would scare bet and I can call. Looking back at it I realized he had FD, but then again I wouldnt mind giving him odds on that anyway.


Turn The turn wouldn't improve his hand any more but I didn't think I could get him to bet again on the turn and would lose a street of value. Hey may still be holding out for the FD, or possibly think im bluffing because the card wouldn't help me either and I didn't bet off the flop.

River Now if he wasn't on the FD hes done for.. but if he is on the FD he will want to put alot in so I bet 9/10 pot. Now looking back on this I should have pushed him because if he didn't have anything its a fold and if he had the flush he would have to call.

i think you played the hand well but i'm thinking there's got to be a better way to get more money into the pot. I think the pot should have been bigger on the turn so that you could have bet more into it without making it look like you had a monster hand.
not sure if betting on the flop would make villain raise, probably not since he bet so small and i think checking wasn't really bad cause you have two players behind you and a good chance one of them will bet. not sure if maybe a min-raise would keep him in the pot and set up for a bigger turn bet?

Santo, if we donked the we wouldn't have known that the villain would have bet smallish. OP stated that villain has raised people off their hand on the flop, and that's why I consider donking. (Unless raise is being used in the wrong context)

@jr.. i know what you're saying. that's a good point that on the previous hands he was raising and I missed that.. But i do understand what OP was trying to accomplish by checking, i'm just wondering if a minraise would have looked to strong to villain or if villain would have thought it was some weird bluff attempt

I think you're right about check/raising here though Santo. He's likely to cbet with much of his range. Also, I often see this on paired boards as bluffs, as so few hands are likely to have hit.

I don't want to bet too heavy handed as we don't want folds from decent hands. I'm thinking of raising to $.32-$.36 though, great odds for a flush draw, 8x will either 3bet/call, and he may still call with stronger PP's

If he's raising a lot of flops I like leading for like $0.15-0.20 then maybe 3 betting an amount that he will still call with a flush draw. Lead/call might also be ok since if he has an 8 he'll be betting the turn and we can c/r + we get a bit more from his air and allow him to make a flush sometimes.

As played bet turn bigger - his calling range won't change that much.

If you donk the flop and he raises you're usually taking the turn headsup. If you check the flop and he bets (I think he will cbet that flop 99.5% of the time. 0.5% of the time he has an 8 and tries some retarded slowplay). Knowing that he is going to play the flop aggressively, I think trying to squeeze chips out of sergvlad333 may be the best way to get value from this hand. When sergvlad folds I think that just calling and hoping that he improves his hand is the best option. Bet on the turn was important to build the pot for a larger river bet because the pot will be too small for a nice bet if he checks behind. FD got there on the river. It is 2nl so he may have called the turn with 2 overs, but I think a river shove is gonna get max value from a flush, and I don't think he's gonna fold an 8 no matter how much you bet.
