    Thumbs down #flopturnriver IRC

I feel that d0zer has been abusing his status as a moderator of the flopturnriver chatroom. Every night that I join I am met with numorous kicks from d0zer without real reasoning besides him saying that he's drunk and bored. I'd greatly appreciate it if the moderators of this channel actually cared about what they were doing and didn't abuse their powers because they're just bored.

heres just a picture of my log for the last 10 minutes

Nobody cares, because it's not actually a FTR official channel. Most of the mods on that channel are not mods here, and we have no power. Just get a clue and find somewhere that people want you around and stop trying to go where your obviously not wanted. Stick around here, we are much more civil.

To be fair, I only abuse my power as irc op towards newfish, and he mostly deserves it.

Besides, if I really didn't want you there newfish I'd kick/ban you. I can't believe you haven't found an auto re-join script yet ffs.

The IRC channel is sweet mang. If people get kicked it tends to be either good-naturedly or because they've done something that warrants it, most often the latter. Given the number of rather clueless and overly optimistic people that poker tends to attract, the ops in the channel are restrained as all shit and have always struck me as being well within in the bounds of "tough but fair".

I'M USING IRC RIGHT NOW AND LOVING IT

As always, any moderator who wants to come into IRC is always made an operator. The moderators here have been made aware of this more than once since this channel was opened over a year and a half ago, and only a few have ever shown up to take the offer. It's also worth noting that d0zer is the only operator of #ftr who isn't (or wasn't) a moderator at some point here on the forums, and he does a very good job. If there was a need for another operator in the poker-only channel we created (by request of people here on the forum), he would be one of my first picks.

Imthenewfish is a habitual troll and has been warned more than once about trolling in the forums (including again today). You don't have to go far in the BC to find examples of him trolling:

And that's just from the first half of the first page of threads. We all try to cut him some slack because he's still got a couple years of puberty left and some maturing to do, but that only goes so far.

I've never had any problems with any of the moderators in the IRC channel. It's a great place to learn, and they're nothing but helpful to people that want to do so.
Tilt is poker cancer. You catch it, you die.

    +1

Very useful place to hang out for poker related talk. Mods aren't a problem at all.

The OPs do their best to maintain a friendly environment for discussions. There is spam every now and then, and ppl get kicked sometimes for it. Thats life.

I was having trouble moving up into small stakes prior to joining the IRC. Since then I've had countless discussions with lots of players who are better than me and have learned a ton. It really is the place to be if you want to excel at poker.

    ...Good Question........Where am I?

    Default What's this aboot?

Just thought I'd stop in and say that I'm really glad I found IRC. Honestly if the mods and players in there hadn't been there helping out so much, I never would have stuck with poker or flopturnriver.com

This thread is like the school bully that moves and has to go to a different school where there's a bigger, badder bully that beats him up and he goes running to the teacher screaming "make him stop!".

Honestly I think Newfish has some good shit to say when he really thinks about it but usually ends up alienating himself and whoever he's replying to in the bc most of the time. I haven't been into the irc yet but I can't imagine that that kinda shits gonna fly in there for very long.

Probably the #1 reason noobs (myself included) don't venture in is because as inviting as Spoon and others make it sound, the image is that you're probably gonna get leveled ten times as hard as you do in the bc.

Spam is usually me or yaawn.

I'm the only one that gets kicked for it though.

Please tell me this means Newfish is banned from IRC. Perhaps I'll be back there more permanently now?
That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

I agree that d0zer abuses his op powers. He really does run it like a tyrant and a despot! I think it's people like this that make new people in poker not want to bother with FTR.com because they get abused in irc. down with the tyrants. REMOVE OPS FOR EVERYONE EXCEPT SPOON!

This is why there should be a minimum age requirement for the entire internet.

While no admin or mod is going to police IRC on the forum, I will just say that based on the quality of your posts in the forum it is no surprise that you are having issues in IRC as well. I poke around there almost never, so this is just pure speculation of course, but I imagine it's not too far of a stretch.

Basically, if you are the only one who is having issues in the chat room maybe it's time to ask yourself why rather than coming here bitching about someone picking on you. Lighten up and chill out, bro.
