Default Big Bet Poker Pokerthon - $3000 in Prizes for September!

    Hey BC,

We are running an exclusive event with one of our new partners, Big Bet Poker, for the month of September, where you can win a share of $3,000. This event is a fantastic promotion for players looking to build their bankroll.

The Pokerthon is a series of 30 freerolls, 1 for each day in September. The prize pool for these freerolls will be $50, totaling $1,500. The other $1,500 will be paid out to the top 3 point finishers throughout the series. Points are earned in many ways - by showing up, ITM finishes, and winning the freeroll.

And yes, Big Bet Poker accepts all US players!

Full Details for this event can be found here - Pokerthon - FTR

NOTE - In order to qualify for this event, you MUST signup through FTR by using our Big Bet Poker links and make a deposit of at least $20. You can do so by clicking here.

I don't know much about tourneys. How long would it take to play one of these, approximately?

The reviews of most of the smaller poker rooms don't give much info.

ex. 1) Big Bet Poker is new to FTR!
ex. 2) Solid site accepting US players, not a ton of action but hopefully it will improve with the Merge Network

Too bad you guys can't spend more time playing/reviewing them.

Wat. You seem to have scrolled past the main review (written by FTR) with all sorts of info and are looking at two "user" reviews, which are there to give ratings out of 5 on each of the categories.

If FTR is going to have a section dedicated to Room Reviews, it should include reviews from someone that has spent enough time on the site to give insightful information. Then, FTR users can evaluate the site without having to set up an account and deposit moola. Yes, I'm aware of the time and effort involved.

@kiwi - The main review you refer to provides only very basic info which could have been copy and pasted from the poker room site. User reviews are what I am interested in. I just spent a lot of time reading the reviews of the smaller rooms and there's very little info to differentiate the rooms.

I'm not hatin'. I was just hoping for better reviews. Maybe that will happen down the road.

All those reviews are uniquely written by FTR writers. These writers are required to download the software client to write their review.

This is obviously a new site. How do you SERIOUSLY expect user reviews to be in already?

Pretty sure I reviewed this one. I remember the software was pretty decent for being part of a small network.

Let me know what you would like to see more of to make our reviews better!

A thread in the feedback forum might be a good idea. I agree with you that "download it yourself" defeats the purpose of a review, but that said FTR can't really control what users write, or rather don't write. As for the content FTR is in charge of, your claim that the content for the small sites is similar may be accurate (did you notice there were a bunch of different sections to the review, interface, fish, etc.), but to be honest there's not a lot that distinguishes one small room from another so that has to be taken into consideration.

That said, if you do have any cool suggestions then a thread in the feedback forum would be cool, it's always nice to hear what people are looking for.

Have not received a PM yet

I don’t need a PM for this. I just have to eat a little crow. First of all, I am considering playing at another room (in addition to Pokerstars) and I had a lot of questions about networks, fishiness and how that was judged, rake, rakeback, deposits/withdrawals, the best way to rate different rooms, etc. I’m a noob and I’ve never played anywhere but pokerstars.

When I went back to the FTR reviews I realized that I had only read the Overview for each room and didn’t notice the links labeled Interface, Action, Fish, Bonuses, and Support which offer the detailed information I was looking for. Also, I hadn’t looked at the links on the right side of the Main page. Those links answered most of my questions about Rakeback and Poker Networks. There’s also a link to Mac Poker which lists all of the Mac compatible poker room software. It doesn’t help me, but it’s a feature I didn’t think FTR had.

So, I was too quick to judge. It’s obvious that FTR has put a lot of effort into these reviews. In fact, there’s a helluva lot more to the site in general than I realized. I need to get out of the BC and OP’s more often.

I’d still like to see a comparison/rating of the different poker networks, but that’s probably here somewhere, too. Also, I think Rakeback is sexy, but I wonder if there’s any reason to choose a room that doesn’t offer Rakeback or the PokerStars VIP system. If not, that would really thin the options.

So, I’ll log in tomorrow to find out what my penance will be. This can’t be good.

Pretty hard to flame you for showing you're willing to admit when you're wrong. NH Sir.

Is there anything you can think of off the top of your head that would make the Interface/Fish/Action sections of the review stand out more, or do you think you were just in a hurry causing you to miss them? I've often wondered how obvious it is that you can click the links for more info.

With regards to network reviews there's a bit of info here Poker Networks & Network Skins but the reviews are pretty sparse. You're probably better off looking at the skins for info on fish etc.

Re: rakeback, a lot of rooms that don't offer rakeback offer VIP programs similar to that of PokerStars, the iPoker network being the main one that springs to mind, although they're not open to US players if you're from the States. It comes largely down to how you prefer getting your money paid back to you, although there are a couple of other things to consider (straight rakeback tends to be better than VIP when you're first starting out, for example), you can read a little bit more guff on Rakeback | Best Rakeback Deals if you haven't already checked it out, but that's mostly targeted at people a bit more clueless than yourself who don't even know what rakeback is.

    Hope that helps!

I was pretty sure you click the other sections and was going to tell you via PM but you decided to out yourself in public

I think it's pretty obvious we need to let people know that there are more than one section by making the section have buttons or something that makes them stick out . I'm no designer though. Alternatively, we could just post the whole review on one page but IDK if a wall of text would crit our readers for 99999999 HP. I think our info box could use some work too.

Regarding Rakeback, there are so many things to consider when choosing a room. Players base, deposit/cash out methods, software, rakeback, vip, other perks. Some of the small rooms just can't compete with Stars and FTP. That said, if you can play some high volume for this Big Bet Poker promotion you are probably going to get some money!

Thanks Kiwi. Regarding the interface, yes I was in a hurry, sort of, to check out each site that allowed USA players. I can't really say it's a bad design, yet it is a little uncommon to have navigation in the middle of the page. On second glance, the links seem so obvious that they shouldn't need changing. So, IDK.

All you need to do is make a minimum deposit of $10 to qualify. You will receive a $50 coupon for an initial 2,000 chips which is valid for 30 days! We will have a Gold, Silver, and Bronze winner.

BigBetPoker is another room as one can say.. but I can say that Big Bet Poker is on one of the fastest growing poker networks. Merge is growing rapidly and Big Bet Poker is surely contributing to this. Big Bet Poker has their own payment processor, a 24/7 customer support with livehelp, knowledgeable team and loyalty program, just to mention a few of our services and features...

So, Melanie, does this mean that if you lose your initial 2K chips, that you are done or does it mean you get 2k chips for each and every free-roll during the month? Because this deal is being billed as an entry into each free roll for the entire month.

Also, please answer my previous question. "How many places are considered ITM?" I'm new to tourneys but I'm guessing that you'll pay 3 places with the $50 prize/tourney.

    Hi PlayToWin,

If you play today and lose your chips, there is an option to buy in.. however, if you are out of chips you can return tomorrow enter into the tournament and start with your 2K for the tournament of the day. ...

That's right their are daily winners.

    A couple of questions:

    1. I downloaded the program from the "Pokerthon - FTR" link at the top. Does this allow me to download the program through the affiliate link?
    2. I did not read the FTR review until after I created an account so I did not put in the promo code. Is there anyway to add this before I deposit money?
    3. Can you use Holdem Manager at your website?

    Thank you!

    HI kmind,

    1. It should allow you actually
    2. As a member of FTR once you sign up through the aff link you will be registered after a deposit is confired. Or when you sign-up make sure to put referred by flopturnriver.
    3. This is not a problem, at least we don't have policies against this.

Let me know if any other questions arise or anything is still unclear in regards to my answers.
