Im pretty frustrated...

Ok, I need to start this out by acknowlegding that I suck at poker. I know I'm not very good and that's why I joined this forum. However, I put 20 bucks in Full Tilt on September 17th and have somehow managed to get it to 107 bucks playing Rush poker.

That being said, I also play in a home game on Wednesday nights with 8-10 of my buddies and I get my ass kicked regularly. We have a 10 dollar buy in that gets you 2000 chips and you can rebuy for the first 2 hours for 1200 chips. The past 3 weeks I have been the first one out every time. My guess is that I am playing too tight????

When I play rush poker I just try to wait for premium hands and bet em heavy and I suppose that strategy isn't working for our home game sit n go because it takes forever to get a good hand.

I know this is quite a rambling post... just looking for some help here.

Cash games are very different from tournaments. Basically, the difference comes from the fact that tournaments have a rising blind structure and you can't top off your stack whenever you want. Waiting for a premium hand doesn't work when your stack is only ten times the big blind, for instance.

Head over to the Sit-n-Go forum, they can help you figure out good strategies for your home game. I also recommend reading "Harrington on Hold'em" volumes 1 and 2, those are the best tournament books I've read so far.

I can somewhat relate to this post becasue I have home games with 8 other friends and I actually do quite well at home. But put me on PokerStars.com and I can go through bankroll like crazy. Granted none of my buddes or I know a hell of a lot about poker. Like most of the people I play online probably do. Try playing a home tournament where the blilnd structure goes up every 15 to 20 hands. Have someone actually keep track of it and see how it goes. I know in real tournaments the blinds go up every so many minutes but we do it by the by hands becasue we all like to talk and we aren't going to watch the clock like we watch the amount of hands. Just a tip.

First off welcome to FTR!

Dude if you suck at poker why the hell are you playing RUSH? RUSH is only making money for a very few other than those who own FTP. If you want to improve at poker start reading like a maniac and here is a list of material for you:

Once you've read all that read it one more time then start over. After that figure out what it is you really want to learn to play well and stick with it until you've really got a good grip on that game. Then if you want to expand do so in the same fashion. Post a shit load of hands here for review and expect to get your ass handed to you but you will learn from it. Most importantly don't be one of those dumbass' who "Join the forum" then disappear after a small hand full of silly ass post because your feelings get hurt.
