When you cold-call, you've given up the initiative. To counteract that, you should sometimes make moves postflop on boards you think villain missed, like bluff-raising or floating, usually when you have position, and only against tags, that's important, they're the only ones c-betting air and folding. Not all the time though, and only on good boards. Cold-calling is fine, but you're not doing it just to play fit or fold.
FR guys will have to advise you on opening ranges, but your CO range does sound rather tight. If button is tight, you can open alot more hands, like pairs, broadway, suited aces, mid suited connectors. If button is a fish, you should stay tight in the CO, but you can still open pairs, broadway, and suited aces.
edit:
I take back the advice to make moves. Now I think that's bad advice, sorry.
