Default A Regular, changing his style

    I've got a regular 17/2/3.5k.

He has been ultra passive since time began, And he is a winning player.
Lately , I've seen him turn up with 96 suited and 54o in spots I didn't really expect.

I did a pt3 filter of this last month, on his .
It turns out, the scoundrel is now 28/6 .

Because I've got such a high volume on him, his changed playing style won't show up on pt3.

Solution, new database now and again?

how many hands do you have on him total (was that the 3.5k number)? his numbers will tend towards his new playstyle, it'll just take a while to get there.

here's a thought, since you have so many hands on him why not rely on your notes and not so much the vpip / pfr numbers. you should know him well enough to not have to make postflop decisions based on things like "oh well his agg factor is pretty low so I should fold to any aggression".

EDIT: definitely do not clear your DB

EDIT x2: After some thought, it might be wise to start a new DB after prolonged absences from the game, say 6 months to a year or more, but def don't throw out all info. I'm not sure if it's possible, but for those long term grinders who have databases that are years long, is there some way to chop off the oldest info and keep only that which is most recent/relevant?

Solution above, or below, depending how you arrange your threads.

Keep villain stats for only past 3 months on HUD mebbe.

My suggestion, I don't know how to do it in PTR since I have HEM, but try observing villains stats on monthly basis, for example: january, february, etc... and mark when the significant changes have started.
You could probably then remove (and backup) all of his old hands before this new strategy of his took place (or somehow make that they don't show in HUD/stats unless you want it).

In PT3, you can configure your HUD to only show the last X number of hands. In the "Hud Options" tab of your configuration screen, set a positive number in the "Stats from the last [ ] hands" box.

Also, I've gotten into the habit of occasionally checking a player's session stats (in PT3, the per-session data will pop up if you hover over a specific stat long enough) if I think they have changed their strategy. Every once in a while I'll find a nit-turned-lag, or fish-turned-tag, etc. Obviously, that's only really useful for VPIP and PFR, since other stats take longer to converge, but at least you'll have an idea if he's playing differently than you expect.

I'm so glad you pointed this out, not only to help in this scenario, but it helps overcome an issue I've been having with anonymous tables.

solution: move up to where such terrible regs can't survive.

if you have 3.5k hands on him you can probably rely on your past history/what you know of him instead of your hud. your hud shouldn't really help you with regs that you play a lot against unless you haven't been doing like any session analysis on them.
