You can use plastic to withdraw, but they don't have banks at the casino for when you cash out. Now, trying to catch a ride with a driver, get through security at the airport, fly, catch a ride at home, sleep with the cash in your house, etc before finally cashing in may or may not be excessive, but I imagine you don't have a whole lot of options if you cash out after 6:30pm and have a flight to catch.

Well they should allow people to bank their winnings. Call me naive, but they have facilities for storing money securely, plus they're insured. I dunno why they haven't cottoned on to this, they could charge a fee and people would pay it to securely put their money into their bank by means of plastic.

It really does seem insane that if someone wins $100k at the casino, they would just walk out of there with it stuffed in a bag. It's asking for trouble.

In casinos, cash is king. The foundations were laid with the bodies of degenerates who thought they were ballin' when they were flashing wads of cash.

The less real the money feels, the quicker it funnels into the casino. The best is when the money is in chips, especially when they're on the table. You simply would not believe what some people would do and how some people rationalize those decisions when they are way up or even, honestly, when they only have "a little" left to lose. The next best thing is having them walking around with a bunch of benjamins in their pockets that they didn't start the day with ("the house's money, these idiots call it ROFLbutkindaSADFACE). The more liquid the funds, and the higher the denominations, the better. There's a whole lot of dropping hundreds and saying "keep the change" when people have had good days.

It would be a disaster (okay, now I'm officially editorializing, but you catch my drift) if people suddenly had a way to make it feel like "their" money by putting it in "their" bank account as soon as they leave the cage--before they even have a chance to stop by Emeril's.

Basically, casino culture's really it's whole own monster that can't be thought of in terms like PokerStars does where it assumes much of its money comes from people who are trying to make a sound living on the site. They get their money from people dumb enough to play slots. I can't imagine that convenience fees would make up for whatever indirect losses would come from implementing any semblances of "responsibility" or "money management." Maybe they'd save some in reduced security in the parking lots and such, but probably not really.

When you put it like that, then yeah I guess you're right, it probably would impact on their profits, and obviously that's all the casino give a fuck about.

The winning regs must have some means of dealing with this that isn't carrying around a duffel bag full of benji's.

Additionally, there must be some way the casino can "help" you with your security concerns... for a fee, of course... surely the concierge could give you a phone number of a reputable agency which handles this sort of thing.

My general strategy for carrying around largish sums around casinos is to carry high denom chips as often as possible and only cash out when necessary, preferably in broad daylight with a taxi or some kind of escort. Seems standard.

Some casinos let you rent safety deposit boxes or keep a balance in their cage, for regulars obviously. I once met a poker player that kept a bankroll in Vegas at the casino, because he went there about once a month to play (Caesars, I think).

You can buy chips with plastic, but casinos don't do bank credits.
Best you can do is get a cheque,
(but they still make you uncomfortable like you're some kind of newb that doesn't understand the etiquette when you ask for a cheque).

Wow interesting. I always assumed high rollers would wire money to the casino and the casino basically hold it in trust. I'd be way too nervous to be baller at a casino.
