In my opinion that is poor play. I don't like risking my whole stack in these kind of situations, all you had was a very beatable one pair after all. That is of course assuming that you don't have a read on this guy that he is a total maniac.

When a player suddenly comes to life on the turn, it means something more often than not. It's really important to see what draws that turn might have given him. Aside from the straight, there are two different two-pair that the 9 might have given him. I wouldn't count out Q9 or J9 given how small the preflop raise was.

    Yeah, not a good play.

    1. You should've raised more preflop, around 4-5xBB.

    2. That player made it blatently obvious that he had caught something big on the turn, that was an easy fold right there.

    himself fucker.
Preflop was fine. You want to raise it so that it can be called. Poker is all about post flop.

    What were your reads?

On the flop, you've got to raise it more. A minimum raise is almost an automatic call for low limit players and it really only tells you that he wasn't stone-cold bluffing by the fact that he called.

With the turn, you can't get too attached to TPTK or bottom two pair when a guy flies off the handle like that (A general rule of thumb).

For your future posts: don't post the results, you'll get less biased information.

Results or no results posted, a raise of 5 X the pot generally means opp is beating TP. Unless you have a very strong sense that opp is bluffing.

    Default Thanks

    Guys,

Thanks for your input. I am brand new to FTR and I hope this site will help me fill the holes and leaks in my game. I am playing pretty tight and aggressive pre-flop but I know I have a lot to learn especially post-flop. I'm looking forward to future advice.

    Merry Christmas to all.
