Default Help me crush no-limit even more

    Hey what's up everybody!

I have been lookin for someone with great NL experience (like rilla maybe) to point me to a good NL strategy guide, useful posts, or helpful books. I have been trolling these forums constantly since I started playin poker on UB and they have helped me ALOT - some might even remember my first post - I have come a long way.

But yea a NL strategy guide (for $20, $50, $100 buyin full table games - and maybe even some small stakes short handed tips) maybe some books to pick up, or a few pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I have ToP by Sklanksy, SSHE, and WLLHE. But these are mostly limit books.

I gave up on UB and since then have been playing on RVP with the free $10 - i started playin limit, made verry slow progress, switched to SNGs and made a lil more progress - but since switchin to .5/.10 NL a couple weeks ago I have been crushing them and have turned the $10 into $120 since then.

For the most part its been ABC poker. Usually I play starting hands by the chart, stay away from flush boards if its not mine (everybody keeps anything with the same suit no matter what happens preflop at my limit).

TPTK or better on the flop = automatic pot sized bet - usually get folds or one caller whom I lay into with another pot sized bet and they are usually done.

Any position I limp with Axs or any pocket pair because whenever I do hit something I stack at least one person - this is where my money is coming from. I make my money because almost every time I go all in I get ridiculous calls and double up.

The only specific question I can think of would be about a situation that comes up once in a while: When I hit TPTK on the flop, make pot sized bets without improving but get one caller all the way to the river. When the river comes and he checks (again) I become afraid to bet again sometimes because I doubt he will fold, and I have to wonder why someone would have stayed in this long with less than TPTK.

In fact, this happened to me last night against one guy when I had an unimproved AK - I ended up betting about 5-6 bucks into him (remember $10 buyins) and he kept calling! He checked at the river again, and I figured I would check to save myself some money. My high card ACE held! But that actually helped to confuse me even more about these situations.

    THANKS!

    like rilla maybe
    I'm flattered. 8-)

Anywho, there's no secret forumla for victory. If you've read TOP then you bascially understand the tactics. Now all it takes is experience. The best thing to do is to get into situations where you don't know what to do, think about what you should do, post the hand history with your thoughts and see if we all agree. That's why the Hand History forum is the greatest (Next to Tales).

Sounds like you need to work on getting reads on players. That's cool, me too.

    Default more books

there are two books that i think are great for getting to understand the type of player you are. Inside the poker mind, and the psycology of poker. There arent any miracle words any book can give you, just play as much as you can. These will get you in the right mind set of looking at the game, from my prespective.
