    Default i play this correctly?

I don't know the proper way to get this formatted, but i think its good enough. Anyway, just wondering your thoughts on this hand.

I am in late position with a 20 dollar stack in a .10/.20 room. I get AA.

2 callers before me, i raise to 1 dollar. 3 callers, about what i wanted.

Flop comes A 3 6, two hearts. first person bets .20, one fold one call, i raise to .80, both call.
maybe i should've bet more here, but i had a good hand i wasn't trying to run people off, i just wanted to get a feel for if anyone was on a straight or flush draw and worsen up their odds a little bit and beef up my pot, but it didn't matter with the second caller.

Turn comes 2 of spades. Both check before me, i bet 3.00, one call.
doubt anyone has the straight, but wanted to make sure nobody got the straight, and wanted to cut any flush drawers off now. wanted it called by people with a pair or 2 pair or whatever.

River comes 2 of diamonds. Guy bets 7.00, i raise to 14 which just puts him all-in. he calls.

    No. You played it wrong.

On the flop, you should bet the pot (about $3). You don't want to "worsen" drawing odds, you want to eliminate them.

You should get max 2 callers. Bet the pot again on the turn. Not a flush card, but it is a straight card. And bet whatever you think will get called when you get the boat.

Is this a story about ducks? A bad beat post in disguise?

i keep going back and forth on this.

And, yes this was a bad beat in disguise. but i posted it more because i wanted to know what people thought about trying to get more money into the pot for a card before lowering the boom. they both would have folded to a pot bet, and i would've won 3 dollars. the way i saw it, i really didn't think anyone was drawing to a straight, maybe backdoor at best. i figured maybe at worst a flush draw. But, i had the ace of hearts, so if one came on the turn, at worst i would have 7 outs to the nut flush (assuming i knew my opponent had 2), plus 10 outs to a full house/quads, and it would still be very possible nobody had the flush and my set would be good. So the turn really wouldn't be too scary for me, most of the time it would be crap or give me a monster, i would bet the pot then and win the hand with a few bucks more in it. This time it didn't work out and he got quads, but is this a horrible move for the future?

If you set aces and there's no pair on the flop, there is Always a straight draw. Interesting but little known fact:
Ace with a card >9 -- high straight draw
Ace with a card <6 -- low straight draw
Ace with two cards 6 through 9 -- middle straight draw

For this reason, you bet them. You're going to win a big pot only when you catch someone with the case ace and a good kicker. Outside of that, you'll either win a small pot (betting your set and scaring everyone) or lose a big one (getting sucked out)

wait if I am reading this right you had a full house aces full of twos so tell me again how did you lose?

    actually he played it correctly.

    Lefou, in .10 / .20 a $3 raise preflop is to obvious.

The $1 raise looks good for those rates.

Ilikeaces I dont think he lost.

that's actually a good point lefou. i've thought about that before, that if there's an ace on the flop, there's no way to escape a possible straight draw unless the board pairs. I still didn't think either of them were staying in for one, if they had one it would be backdoor. total guess on my part i just got the vibe one guy had ace rag 2 pair/ hearts. other guy i put on crap...

and, i did lose, he had 22. so, i realize this was a bad beat, but i'm wondering for the future if putting out callable bets on the flop with a hand like this instead of ones that will get folds will overall make money, assuming most of the time i won't get a boat and straights/flushes will still be a threat. higher limits i will of course bet the pot but here it would probably only get called maybe 20% or less of the time?

that is a terrible beat. if i'm correct, after the flop, the odds of you losing to 22 are about 946 to 1.

Don't let someone off cheap with a bad call when they're willing to make a truely horrible call.
