Kiriath, study the starting hands charts:

Playing weak starting hands like this, you are only defeating yourself and will lose lots of money over time.

Or do you win all your pots by bluffing?

The play any two cards thing isn't my style. I'd have folded both preflop without a second thought. This kind of play can pay off, but it's dangerous. I don't know if your post-flop analysis is up to it long term (no offense. I know mine isn't either). Players like Rippy and Gus Hansen make this work. I couldn't.

Be careful the table doesn't get a read on you, or if they do that you're using it right. Also, make sure you have a read on them.

I don't think Rippy or even Gus play as much garbage in ring games. I know that Rippy has said he tightens up in ring games. In tourneys, he definitely plays position and chipstacks.

Good point. And he didn't have position either time...though I suppose he did kinda buy it in hand 1.

There's definitely better garbage than this to make these kind of plays on.

I never fully understood what this meant until my experience as a super-stack last night (400k w/ avg stack of 60k and 2nd place having 150k). I won 95% of my pots just because people didn't want to lose half their stack when losing the hand didn't matter to my stack at all.

Kiriath: The above is why it works in tournaments but not as well in ring games. If someone really thinks you're full of it, they can call you down and rebuy in a ring game. They make the wrong call in a tournament and they're out.

    Exactly.

In ring games, I play as if everyone has unlimited bankrolls... and in some cases, they do.

    Default hehe

Thanks for all the answers! Im aware of the fact that I was playing seriously shitty hands, the reason I did it was that ppl was playing extreemly pansee at that table, That and the fact that I was called down a few times showing strong hands.

I really think it works in the type of games I do it in, shorthanded 10 person tables on UB, at the buyin I play (25$ max). Most ppl simply suck at shorthanded play, just sitting there waiting for the table to fill up so they can start camping good cards at a low price.

And then again, I like playing a few hands like this, if I have a read on a player telling me he will lay down if I show enough strenght. Sure its a risk, but I find its the only way to get ppl to pay off ur really great hands when u finally do get em!

And no, im not claiming to be some super poker expert ( although I sure am in my wet dreams at night haha =), I just think that playing offensive, is just another way of playing, compared to camping for good starting cards and slowplaying monsters like everyone and theyr mother do. I might be wrong. And sometimes I do wonder if I am, like last week where I lost half my bankroll in three days. Maybe that was cause of my agressive play, or maybe it was just because I was an even bigger newb than I am now, not respecting sets and stuff like that.

Ive made some statistics on it, and the one area where I really make money is in shorthanded play. I do okay in full tables, but tend to play abit too loose. And I do about even heads up. But shortanded, thats where ive been building my bankroll the last few weeks.

Expext variance, nice plays though. I'm sure ur able to identify the weak-tight players so pick on them with this strategy.

I didn't take into account that this was short-handed. Good point. That and the rest of what you mention are good points. As long as you're playing it smartly, then good job.

You will see wider swings with this style of play, but it could very well pay off in the long run. There's just a lot more complications to deal with.

Also, note that aggressive doesn't have to mean loose. You can give off the very same crazy image while still playing good hands, if you do it right. That said, if you're doing well at what you're doing, feel free to keep it up. You might try your hand at some tournaments as well, as once you get a stack and people start to tighten up (about 1/3 of the way through), you can totally own with this style of play.
