Bad Play or Unavoidable Situation?

This was a home game last night, there were 5 people left and I was shortstack (but still had a resonable amount of chips)

For most of the tourney I hadnt caught any cards, my best hands were 77, A4s, and K9. Thats all.

The blinds went up every orbit so with only 5 people they go up pretty fast. After another long drought of terrible hands I got dealt pocket 10's. I raise 4xBB because I want to either go heads up with someone or just take blinds. The bigstack pushes me all in and I call, figuring I had least had the pre-flop advantage and it was worth a shot. He flips over Queens. Did I just run into an unaviodable situation or should I wait to go all in with something better?

This loss was really frustrating to me because I have really been working on my game the last couple of weeks and I felt confident I could take this tourney

Shortstacked and 5-handed, TT is definitely worth pushing. Not quite as sure about calling a push, but I'd probably call here as well, neglecting reads.

God I just played again today and the same time of deal happend again. I feel like I'm playing the most patient and smart poker I've ever played before but its just not paying off. (this is a home game, most people start with around 200-250 in chips)

I am dealt JJ in good position

I raise 30 over the 12. I have one caller.

FLOP - 9 10 7

The caller bets 30, I raise to 60. He calls

Turn - 8

I now have the highest straight possible, he checks and I bet 60. He calls.

River - J

Now there's a straight on the board, but my JJ is nothing anymore. The caller always chases flushes and straights so I figure he could have possibly hit it. He says, "I think you probaly got me, but I'm all in" One of his tells is that he acts weak when he has a monster. I fold and he shows Q 6. I guess I should have been more aggressive...

I didnt really go on tilt after this, I had enough chips to contend still and I started to rebuild.

Now for the hand I lose on.

I am dealt QsJs and call the BB.

Everyone else folds except for the big and small blind.

FLOP - Qd 8d 6h

He bet 20 and I raised to 40. He called

Turn - 4s

He checks. At this point I figure he most likely had a queen and a low kicker (he was small blind) so I figure I have him dominated and go all in. He calls and flips over friggen KK. I'm out.

Hand 1, actually QJ has the highest straight on the turn, not your JJ. Good read though.

Hand 2, you got p0wnd, it happens. If you have 57s, he's the one bitching.

I definitely like a bigger bet on the turn..maybe a bigger bet on the flop too.

I believe you played pretty well on most of these hands and you had a run of bad luck. For hand one of the second post I would have raised more on the flop and and bet more on the turn.

Today in a Heads Up game, I had JJ. I raise and he raises. I put him on something like AK/AQ/KQ/KJ/Q10/K10/A10. He has been pretty loose with raises, so I push. He flips QQ. Game over, nothing I can do but move on
