Default Beginner, Betting Structure Rules For No Limit Holdem

Hi, and my apologies for any stupid questions I might ask. I can tell from the posts that you guys are all pretty clued up and way above me, but I am trying to learn poker and am playing with some friends.

We always play buy in No Limit Holdem, the main question I have is even after reading numerous websites I cannot seem to understand the betting rules on raising and re-raising before the flop and then after the flop. Can someone help me out with what I am sure is a simple answer that I am just overlooking.

    Easy enough

Dealer deals...Next 2 people are small blind and big blind (in that order). Small blind is always half of the big blind. (exception...0.10/.025) After that everyone is free to bet and raise as much as they want, with only 3 major rules. 1 The original bet can not be lower than the bigblind. 2 all raises after a bet/raise must be the same or larger in size to the bet/raise before it. 3 You can only bet the money you currently have "in chips" at the table.

Should be it...Did I miss anything anyone?
Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.

thanks for the quick reply, some players I have been playing with are telling me that you cannot re-raise, or you are limited to 1 re-raise.

i.e I am under the gun and I raise, then all payers fold except small B who calls my raise, and they raise, big blind calls the r-raise to stay in, and I have a choice to either call the re-raise to see the flop, or raise of the top again.

The players were telling me I could not re-raise as I had already raised once in this round....

I was not sure if they were playing correctly or not, so I played their rules as it was their game, and reverted to calling them all in when felt appropriate, sufficed to say it worked at this game.

As long as all agree to the rules, a rule like that can be made...I dont personally approve of it if you are playing no limit because it LIMITS you. It's called a house rule
