Default I sensed some BS here

I realized a raise was unneccesary to determine if he had an A or K compared to a lower pocket pair, and just called and waited for him to check the turn.. sure enough he did and I took it down..

About the only time I'd reccommend playing passive lol..

EDIT: just realized it was irrelevant what two cards i held lol

Why not re-raiase to 35 or so preflop? You do that and bet 3/4 of the pot and you will take it down most every time on that flop. Whenever possible you should take control of the hand by raising, especially when you hold such strong cards.

Also, you are waaaaay under BR'ed for 2/4 nl, i recently hit a 4k downswing, which is your entire BR. At a very minimum you should have 15 buyins, and really 30 is more appropriate.

Well, if you're not going to reraise with JJ, AKs, AKo and possible AQs/TT then you shouldnt really be reraising preflop at all. Thoughts?

I'm buying in shortstacked, for only 175$, which would give me about 25 buyins.

    A) He could have AA or KK or AK, if he does then its really not worth it
    B) Someone else could have AA or KK or AK (someone WITH position on me), and call my reraise or reraise me themselves.

Both situations are rather likely in my opinion, so I just called.. Note that I'm in middle position (right in front of him), so reraising is very bold for QQ at that point.

It all depends on the position you have. From any position I will reraise with AA or KK. I reraise with QQ and AK if I have good position or the intial raise is a minraise. I even reraise with suited connectors if I have the button or cut-off and I think the initial raiser doesnt have strong holdings.

What rilla is saying is if you don't re-raise w/ any of the hands he mentioned you should not bother re-raising at all as it will be completely obvious what your hand is and people will fold to you. Alot of players at 600nl will pick up on this and really abuse you because of it.

Being worried about AA/KK is exactly why you should re-raise with QQ, AQ, AK, JJ IMO and If you spend an extra 15 dollars preflop and your opponent doesn't come over the top of you, then unless your opponent is tricky, you can eliminate AA, KK from the picture. If he does come over the top of you it is an easy laydown. What happens when the flop comes J72 rainbow, and you just call his raise? You will be losing a good portion of your stack, if not all of your stack on that flop, which could have been partially avoided by re-raising preflop.

PLay your hands however you like, those are just some of the reasons why i would re-raise QQ here, and mixing things up is always good, especially if you intend to play 3/6nl by august.
