You would have to raise to find out if he has the Q or not. This hand is all about your read. You were out of position but why didn't you lead out? You would've been able to find out if he has anything and can check/fold on the turn if he calls.

A check raise here says "I have AA, KK, QQ or AQ". So even if he has a Q it gives him the difficult decision, not you.

A check raise here says "I have QQ or AK". So if he has a Q he probably puts you on the draw.

Fixed. He may not even have hit a Queen. He probably has 99 or some other second pairish hand.
