Default Hand type that I am involved in. How do you guys play it?

No reads 1st hand in.. Not a special hand at all. Just curious of what you guys would do.. Would you call here? I'd fold it pre except on the button with no raises in front.

This is a very typical hand I run into. I usually play it like I did and I don't look back.

Fold the flop, you have no draws and middle pair. Even if the guy is just buying the pot, you have to let this one go..IMO.

Thanks for the prompt response. That's how I felt.

I'm thinking someone may say call because of odds, possibly? That's why I'd like to see how people play this "average" hand.

    Thanks again.

BTW - the turn bettor donked his whole stack off on a bluff 4 hands later. ralf

Well, you arent really getting odds on anything. You either think you have the best hand, which is iffy, or you are drawing. The only outs you have are 2 Tens and *Possibly* 3 Kings. so therefore you have to have around 8.5:1 to call there......And since the bettor bet almost the pot which is about 1:1, its autofold.

HOWEVER, if you had had the read that this guy was a giant asshat, then maybe you feel your hand is good.........

Nah no read at that time.. I have to be honset I wouldn't do much there.. I just wind up in that same situation a lot and I don't regret what I usually do. In the past I've done the wrong thing, and it's usually really WRONG.

more and more I am laying this hand down. If I'm up against the blinds and can see the flop cheaply, I might take a crack at it.

Perfectly played IMO. With only the weak raiser and no callers I would call that but with a raise and 2 calls in front of you there must be a Q out there..

Can you explain to me why you call here?

In my head I have 2 options when its my turn to act
    1) Fold, I think my opponent has a queen and dont want to pay to see...
2)Raise, I dont think my opponent has a queen, and might get him to fold his hand.

What are the benefits of calling in this situation?...just curious

Well betting to that flop with just a middle pair and having 3 players acting behind you doesnt sound like a sound plan to me. Also check-raising with middle pair isnt something I like to do without a solid read. But it was my mistake to think that the flop bet was weak, that $1 was a pot sized bet and I am not calling here. With a raise smaller than half the pot I might call (or check-raise) I Should be more careful with what I am saying..

Okay good, then we are on the same page. Just thought I was missing something. no way I bet at that flop either, or call a pot sized bet.
